Having documentation of your life is one thing that I learned recently. I came up with the idea of journaling or just writing my thoughts on my laptop. What I want into this idea is to share some of my life, thoughts, and ideas with others by publishing them on the web.
Today, I want to share the major highlights of the first half of 2024 which is more on the rough side. At least, I am prepared for this and I know that this time will come. But no matter how prepared I am, I am not ready for it and still have a hard time coping.
Bad spending habits and financial crisis
I know to myself that I will experience this. Last year, my income is slowly decreasing and my main source of income is experiencing problems. Now, it is gone. It was my investment outside crypto and it really helped me a lot financially.

It saved my high school life and my first years of being a college student. But I know that it is not a permanent income. Now that it is gone, I am struggling financially and always finding a way to earn money since I also don’t have a job for now. I’d say that being a working student is difficult considering that I am taking engineering.
Despite of struggling financially, I don’t know what is wrong with me but I have a bad spending habits since I started college. My expenses for my leisure this year are 16% of my expenses and the third one for most spent money among the 12 categories. I know about this because I kept tracking my income and expenses since 2023.

Becoming more active on Hive community
Recently, I noticed myself becoming more engaged in the community. I write enough blog posts per month and continue even though I feel a bit discouraged because I am not getting any upvotes. But for now, my only focus is to keep engaging with other users and not think a lot about the rewards.
This is all possible thanks to threads of InLeo. I am sharing my short-form content on threads and keep myself showing up on the chain. So far, I am seeing the growth of my account in engagement and continuously creating friends with other users.
I am now trying to be more active at InLeo because I can see the potential of the project and the community that totally supports it. Also, the short-form posts help me a lot to have an idea of what to post. If I cannot post long-form content, I don’t have to worry because I can visit threads and share short content.

Trying my best to keep my website alive
I have done this since last month because I see that I should become more active using it. I couldn’t be earning from it for now, but I can start investing my time and effort in building my SEO profile and use it as my portfolio in the future.
I want to pursue SEO and start doing it for my part-time jobs as I can see the interesting side of it. What I am doing right now is to publish some of my blogs on Hive and then republishing them to my website. I always put some touch of SEO to my content so I can rank on Google.

Also, this helps to overcome my imposter syndrome. I know that I can’t be active on my website because I think that building it is complex, but now, I am just writing content based on my perspective. I don’t have to overthink it and just continue publishing. The time will come to get one article viral.
2000 HP goal achieved
This has been my goal since last year but since I am struggling financially, I achieved it a bit late and still setting more goals. I recently achieved my 2000 HP goal and now sitting on 2200 HP. Though I have this amount, I am still aiming to get at least 3,000 HP before this year ends. My medium-long-term goal is to get 5,000 HP on my account.
These goals might be smaller goal and easier for other whales, this is a huge goal for me as a student who only relies on Hive as my main income – but I do not spend my earnings here as long as I can because I consider this as my long-term investment and keep compounding all the earnings.

I am now moving to becoming a 4th year student
Finally, I finished my third year of school. People said that it was the most tiring and exhausting year of college and I am happy that I finished it and still a regular student. Technically, I failed one major subject but I am thankful that our professor considered our grades and marked it as INC.
Meaning, that we only have to comply with what he wants us to do – more likely a project so we can pass the subject. This is way better than failing the subject because we might add another year if it happens.
So for me, passing this year as an engineering student is the major highlight of my first half of this year. Still hoping that I can graduate on time and have more achievements not only on academics but also in my personal life.
