Hello friends of Hive. If you are a newbie, you must have been wondering what the Hive keys required to be downloaded when you registered were for. Well,here are some tips on those keys; how to access them, what they are used for and how to keep them safe.

The keys on Hive are not just there, they are for some important tasks on Hive. Before I continue to talk about the keys and what they are for, first,do we know how to access them? If you don't, this is how;

When you are in your Hive account, click on your profile picture on the top right corner of your screen.

Now on wallet right? Tap wallet which will take to you to another page like below on your mobile phone.

There you can see keys and permissions. Tap or click on it, it will take to you to a page that shows what the keys are for and how to see those keys. To see those keys you have to tap or click on reveal at the bottom of the page.

You can then tap on reveal to access those keys just after you have input your Master key, which is your owner's key. After inputting that, there you have it, your keys.

Let's move to the functions of those keys you have tried so hard to access.

The Master/Owner key: This key gives you permission to recover your account and also change other keys.

The Posting Key: This is used to make posts, reblog, upvote, down vote, comment

The Active Key: This key gives permission for more monetary actions e.g transfers and exchange of tokens

The Memo Key: This Key allows user to encrypt and decrypt private messages sent through blockchain

To the final part of this post, how to keep your keys safe. Your keys are just like your password that you keep secret. You can write in a personal notebook where nobody except you,can access. Avoid clicking on any random links that lacks security i.e. Phishing links. They are traps set by hackers. You take all measures to keep a password safe to keep your Hive keys safe.
