Echoes of the Past: Why History Still Matters

in #hive-15385010 days ago

Hello Hive Learners Community! Welcome to my blog. Nowadays there are a lot of changes in School Curriculum. Many things have been added, and many things that were part of syllables in the past have been depleted. History was once one of the favorite subjects of students and is no longer taught in schools. I have met many students who are not aware of the culture and traditions of their country as they have skipped the subject of History. Without studying this subject, we can't make ourselves aware of the failures and achievements of our forefathers. Moreover, there is now a sharp overlapping of culture due to Socialism. It is too hard to know which culture belongs to which nation.

Some Big Drawbacks For Not Studying History

Source

We can't ignore the importance of history subject in the school. When I was in 8th Grade, I liked to read this subject as it was linked to the past hierarchy. I have attended different competitions regarding this subject. I'm happy that I still know more about the history of my country as compared to the young generation. After skipping History, our young generation is lacking in following things.

  • Lack of Knowledge About Cultures and traditions
  • Inability to learn from mistakes of our forefathers
  • Gaps Between Interdisciplinary Knowledge

I have found these deficiencies in our young generation because they have skipped the subject of History.

1. Lack Of Knowledge

In Pakistan, there were different nations with different cultures. When we read history, we came to know about Cultural Hereditary. Pakistan is a rich country regarding this. As our kids have skipped this subject, they are unfamiliar with it.

2. Inability to Learn From Past Mistakes

Being a human, we all commit different mistakes. Mistakes are a blessing if we learn from them; otherwise, they are a curse for us. Muslims have been ruled the whole world for more than 70 thousand years. What our Muslim Kings and Princes committed that finished their rule is not a mystery when we read history. Without learning history, we can't learn and improve them.

3. Gaps Between Interdisciplinary Subjects

History is directly or indirectly linked to many other subjects like Arts, Literature, Science, and Geography. By leaving history, we can't get a full grip on other subjects. We need to bridge these gaps by reading about our past.

Final Thoughts

History is not a subject that should be ignored. Ignoring history means we are ignoring our past, which is linked to our forefathers. It has been always fascinating to know the culture, traditions, and lifestyle of our forefathers. I always requested Government Bodies to renew this subject and make its study essential in the school Curriculum. Successful Nations always protect and preach about their History. We can't bury this subject. I hope this subject will find its glory as it had glory in the past soon. Moreover, we should make family visits to the National Museum and Historical Places where we and our kids become familiarisation what our forefathers had done for us.

Every subject has it's importance and it's applicable for history also. Although I am no so optimistic about history subject but you raised some logical point and I agree with you in that case.
