If there is one thing I love so well is a peaceful situation. Most times I tend to ignore certain things just for peace to reign. Sometimes my younger sister will always ask me why I choose to ignore someone who is making me feel bad or a situation where I need to argue, but then I tell her I just don’t have the strength for those kind of things and I love peace and quietness.
I have seen several situations where both parties refuse to make sacrifices and then it turns out to be something else. Especially when it comes to relationships, for peace to reign one must make sacrifices even in families, office settings, and a lot more. There must be one person willing to make a sacrifice and not everyone with a hot head and then there is riot and fighting and argument with no one willing to take the blame and let peace reign.
I have a tiny voice so I try to avoid anything that will make me raise my voice such as an argument or a fight, so most times, I simply ignore a situation or take the blame for peace to reign and everyone goes his or her separate ways. Most times I regret making sacrifices because it makes me look like a weak person. Most people would say “Oh she took the blame because she is a weak one and can’t stand up for herself” but then peace over anything I will always say.
I got most of my life experiences when I was in a Tertiary institution which is my University days. I met people with different characters and personalities. Some just choose violence over everything, I can't help but wonder what exactly is wrong with most people.
During this period, we had a project work to do and we were divided into several groups by my lecturer. It was a project work that required us to produce something and also give a presentation on it at the end of the project practical work. It had to do with Entrepreneurship, where we get to produce a microbial product that we can sell and also make a livelihood out of it.
The lecturer just divided us into different groups and asked us to pick out the group leaders who would do the oral presentation and also supervised every activity. The group leader will also be in charge of answering questions during the oral presentation. My group members decided to put me as the group leader but then there was an argument. It happened that the assistant class representative was also in my group and she was offended that how will she not be picked as the group leader.
This led to a serious argument as the group was divided already, some supporting the assistant class representative while the majority kept screaming and saying I should lead the group. I was not ready to be caught in that web so I simply said she should be the group leader for peace to reign because the group leaders always have extra marks too. I knew that extra marks would boost my GPA, but I decided for peace to reign she should take the position.
A few days before the final oral presentation, she came to me and told me she couldn’t be the group leader as she wasn’t ready for the questions during the oral presentation. I told her I would do it then.
Honestly, I felt bad at first because of the thought of losing out on the extra points but then I was happy I made a sacrifice and there was peace. Like the saying goes “What is meant for you, will find you”. In the end, I got extra marks.
