Hello everyone, how are you doing? I am here again to talk about a very important today that is being observed all over the world. It is so important because some of us have it or have loved ones who have it, we all have all been affected by it in one way or the other.
And this day is none other than World Cancer Day.
Like I said earlier, each of us knows at least one person who is suffering from this deadly disease, or has lost a close one to it. It is a sore subject that touches everyone irrespective of age, color, religion, or nationality. Cancer does not look at the face when it attacks, that is why when we come together to fight it, we should not look at the face either.
World Cancer Day was first started by The Union for International Cancer Control but it was made official in the year 2000. Its aim was to create a global awareness of the deadly disease and also let people know of preventing it along with detection and treatment. Because one of the key steps in surviving cancer is early detection and treatment. It could be the difference between life and death.
All over the world, government bodies and private organizations are investing heavily into researching ways to get rid of this cancer once and for all, huge funding goes into it year in year out. And thankfully, over the years, some progress has been recorded. A time will come when having cancer will be like having a bad cold. You would just take some pills and you would be fine.
But that time is not here yet, that is why we need days like this. We need it to remember our brothers and sisters who are suffering from one form of cancer or the other; we need to remind them that they are not alone in this battle. We need to tell them that they are truly loved and we would stand by them forever.
And even though you do not have cancer or you do not have a family member that suffers from it, we all have a global responsibility to aid in the fight. Because as long as it is still a threat, the battle never ends.
There are ways to help out; you could be a volunteer, helping out cancer patients. And if you do not have the time but the money, you can help out financially. Any form of help you render would go a long way in helping at least one person feel better. Where you can help out is not far away, they are all around you.
There are Non-Profit Organizations, charities, and social clubs where you can give out your help. Because there will always be someone out there who would need it.
So, on this day I put this to you; is there anyone you know who is battling cancer? Or do you know someone whose loved one is battling cancer?
This is your time to make them feel loved and let them know they are not alone. This small act of kindness will surely go a long way in making them feel a lot better.
Thank you for reading, see you in the next post.
