Everyone always seems to have an opinion of what they believe love to be. It could be inspired by what they’ve read in books, or seen in movies. For some, they are only inspired by the kind of love they’ve seen around them, either among their parents or among their friends and loved ones. They base their idea of love around these factors and it affects the way they approach the subject.
I guess this is the reason why no two people can ever truly see love in the same way. There will always be inconsistencies because where one person draws the line, someone else will be willing to go above and beyond all in the name of love. There is no manual when it comes to love, you don’t get to prepare for it. You’re simply there and you’re going with it.
Of course, a lot of people have a lot of things to say with regard to love. However, I’m of the opinion that love is one of those things where if you’re not in it, then you have no idea what it’s like. You can stay outside and criticize it all you want, you can stay outside and hunger for it, but as long as you’ve not experienced true love, then you really do not have any idea what you’re talking about.
Sadly, not everyone will get to experience this kind of love. Modern day desires have covered our eyes and people are now more interested in frivolous things. Instead of falling in love with the woman and how you make each other feel, you fall in love with her body and also what people will say when they see you with her. Or as a lady, falling in love with what a man can do for you instead of who he actually is to you.
I guess this is the reason some relationships are so easy to leave these days. Someone can experience a breakup today and by the end of the day, they’re in top spirits and ready to move on. The pain that they’re supposed to feel is not even there anymore and the ex is now a thing of the past. But then, if we’re not really affected by something as major as a breakup, then doesn’t it mean that we never really loved them as we pretended to?
Because when you think about it, true love comes at a cost, and the cost is that it would stay with you forever. So, when that love is taken from you, it’s akin to your breath leaving your chest. Surviving should seem hard. I’ve seen people in love, people who don’t even want to get a whiff of quarrel with their partners simply because they can’t even bear to know that their significant other doesn’t want to talk to them. I know a friend who would lose his appetite whenever he and his fiancé got into an argument and no food would taste sweet in his mouth until they reconciled. I’ve seen people who are deeply and truly in love.
There is no way these people can just turn their backs on relationships like that and be ready to jump on to the next one at the snap of a finger. It’s insane. However, it’s also the reality of life. That is what many people are facing today. In a relationship, there is the probability that one person is more in love than the other. People are getting into relationships as if they’re stepping into landmines. Everyone is scared of getting hurt, and to counter that, they already have possible replacements in place. So when one doesn’t work out, they move on to the next one, in no time.
When you think about it, it’s crazy just how warped our mentality has become when it comes to love. People don’t really fall in love anymore, for them it’s only a thing of convenience and it’s becoming tiring. Falling in love is scary as hell, you’re willing to get vulnerable with someone knowing they could hurt you severely with it. Yet, you go right ahead with a smile on your face. Many of us get lucky and fall in love with those who love us right back. Others are not so lucky, they fall in love with the weapons fashioned against them.
Who knows, love could be a toss of a dice. You could land on the right person for you, and you could land on the terribly wrong person for you. You can only pray for strength to leave if the person turns out to be terrible for you. Believe me, when love is involved, it can be difficult to leave someone even though you know they’re killing you.
Yeah, like I said… crazy and scary. But what can we do? We’re still going to fall in love like the mumu that we are.
