One thing I’ve always thought about was how an entire project can rely solely on one person, and no matter how valuable it was, the person could decide the fate of the project just by their actions and decisions that they make. It’s insane when you think about it, a project that has thousands of workers and makes millions of dollars.

Yet, with a single mistake, it can all be gone like that. With one wrong decision made by someone, it can all go to dust. Just like that. This is crazy, showing just the kind of power and influence some people can have.

I’m not talking about companies and all, my focus is on movies and the effects that the lead actors have on them. As you know, a single movie goes way beyond the actors that are cast to act in them. They also go beyond the director that brings the vision to life. There are hundreds of people who come together to make it a reality.

There are drivers, cooks, cleaners, stuntsmen, costumers, props masters… the list goes on and on. These are people who are given jobs simply because of the movie, or the series. And then, let’s not ignore the actors themselves who work themselves to the bone trying to bring their characters to life. So much goes into creating magic.

But then, one single scandal can ruin it all. If a major actor in the project gets involved in anything illegal or unethical, it could turn the public against them and as such, destroy hopes of whatever project they’re working on ever making money. When studios hire major actors, they always try to hire bankable actors who will make money for them.

However, when they realize that something like that could happen, they can easily cancel it. There have been instances where movies were simply canceled midway through shooting just because of something the actor did. Series have been canceled because of such a thing, especially because they knew that changing the actor wasn’t possible. There are times when the movies was ready to be released but they ended up on a shelf in the dark, gathering dust.

As an actor, you could think you’ve gotten a steady gig by appearing in a blockbuster. And knowing that there will be sequels and all, you know that you’ll always be getting a piece of the action. However, you can wake up one morning and find your co-star embroiled in a scandal and just like that, the movie would be canceled. This has happened so many times and it’s a pattern. It has gotten even worse with the cancel culture and social media now a thing.

I’m not saying that famous people who do bad things shouldn’t be punished. It’s good that they get some sort of punishment for whatever it is that they do. It’s just sad that their co-stars and the innocent crew members who have nothing to do with the scandal also get punished with them. But then, that’s the movie world for you, the viewers will always be all that matters. No matter what.

I think that happens because when you usually watch a movie you associate yourself somehow with the actors and the action of the movie. And you don't to get associated with a "bad" actor and maybe that's the stigmata about it.
