These past few days have been one of the most hectic ones I’ve had to live through since the start of this year. I’ve had to go out more times in the past week than I have in the entire year put together. And for someone like me, it’s not a happy thought at all. I always try my best not to go out, staying indoors unless I absolutely have to. However, these past few days, I’ve had many reasons to go out.
But then, one of the reasons for that is the fact that I was traveling to Lagos for the Christmas celebrations. I wanted to spend it with my family, so I opted to go be with them. That was more economical when compared to having them all come down to the east where I was. So, I’ve been busy putting in finishing touches on a lot of things before I closed for the year. Also getting to buy some things for my family and getting some much-needed items. It’s been one major hassle.
My trip happened yesterday and it was a success. But I have to tell you, it came with a whole lot of portholes. Getting to the airport, the first roadblock I hit was the issue of the network. The airport staff didn’t have a good network and were complaining about having to use their personal data to run customer’s flights. This delayed my check-in by at least fifteen minutes.
Eventually, they were able to process my ticket and I was handed my boarding pass. I didn’t have so much load, so I didn’t have to pay extra for baggage. My box was taken from me and taken to cargo, while I made my way through security to wait for my flight scheduled to take off at 12.
Boarding was meant to stop by 11:30 and by 12:00, we were meant to be in the air. Sadly, that wasn’t how things unfolded at all. By 12:00, they were clearly still boarding. It was later on we learned that the plane that was supposed to take us to Lagos was still in the air, coming in from Abuja. This meant that our flight was delayed.
The plane eventually landed at the Sam Mbakwe airport and not long after, boarding began. This also took quite some time, and in the end, we ended up taxing out of the airport around 2:00 P.m. instead of the 12:00 PM that we were supposed to. But we were already in the air so, it was all good.
All through the process, I was taking pictures and making videos. Although the videos were for my younger sister, she needed them for her vlog. But the pictures were solely for me. I took pictures on the road, pictures at the airport, and when we eventually landed as well. This was the first time I was taking such a trip since I started taking original pictures myself, and I wanted to add them all to my gallery.
Take-off and landing was a success. When I got to the Ikeja airport, I had to take a bolt that took me home. And I was happy to see my family once again, it had just been way too long since I had been with them and it was good to be with them once again. However, thanks to the numerous delays I experienced and the Lagos traffic, I ended up getting home way later than I planned to. That messed up a whole lot of things with regard to my plans. However, what matters is that I got home safely and in one piece. That is something to be happy about and I am. So, I’m ready for everything else this season has to offer, and I’m also ready to get back to my usual routine with regard to my Hive journey.
I’m so happy to be here!
