Hello everyone, how are you all doing on this beautiful Sunday? Down here, the rains are coming in hard and I am just stuck indoors for now. But I believe it will all end soon.

Now, as the saying goes, no man is an island unto himself. Well, that is pretty obvious seeing as we humans are social creatures. And in our societies, we have orders of hierarchy. We get to select people who will lead us and represent us so that misfortunes like chaos would not overtake society.

In the past, the people did not have much say in who led them. Leaders were usually born into the role and had to be groomed in the art. But today, thanks to modern civilization and democracy, the people now have the ability to decide who gets to rule them.

And how does this work? The idea is that if you believe a person is the best candidate for the job, you vote for him. This places the majority of the power in the people, seeing as they usually have to select from a minority.

So, in cases like these, we have candidates who will go about campaigning. Trying to convince the people why they must vote for them. Basically selling themselves out on why they are the best for the job.

Unfortunately, despite the amount of power this puts in the hands of people, a lot of us still do not take part. And this is not for no reason.

Sometimes, the voters fear that the election process will be rigged, therefore their votes will not count. Other times, they believe that the candidates that are available are not trustworthy and they might end up not doing as they had promised once they finally get into office.

These are uncertainties and questions that are raised by concerned voters who really want to make that difference. But because they believe their votes would not count they would ignore the entire process and just leave the game of politics to the government.

Now, what is the bad side of this, because there is no good side at all, when you fail to vote, then the people in charge will be able to put those they want in power. And the cycle of corruption continues.

Your vote can be the difference between a good leader and a bad one.

I am not telling you to become a politician. No. I am telling you to become involved in politics, there is a difference. By being involved as a spectator, you get to know about all the happenings that go on in the government. That way you be able to tell who the real and best candidates are and vote accordingly. The worst thing that can happen to any nation is when her people suffer from ignorance.

And that can be stopped.

And how can this knowledge be gotten? You do not have to join any political parties or such. No. you just have to watch the news on a regular basis. Both local and international news. That way you would know the standing of your country at large and how they are faring compared to the rest of the world. Because it is only when you are informed that you can make educated decisions.

Try to take charge today, do your civic duty. Please Vote.

Thank you for reading, till we meet again in the next post.

Sort:

You see a lot of people don't usually cast their vote during an election due to some reasons you listed above however, the best decision still remain to do the needful, at least contribute your own quoter and leave the rest to the Government and of course God!

Thanks for reminding us of this important issue.

We should never let bad leaders take what is rightfully ours from us.
