Omo… going vegan is not an easy thing ooo, especially for people like me who are not very adventurous when it comes to cooking. I’m the kind of person who doesn’t like stress in any form, so if the food I’m going to cook looks like it’s going to stress me, you can rest assured that I’ll not be cooking it. I’d rather go outside to buy the cooked one and eat it to my satisfaction. It’s more expensive, but I’d also use that time to do other things… like sleeping.😪
I’m not one to judge, people can make whatever choices that they want, it’s their body and everyone has free will. You can choose to be vegan and I will respect you for it, hell you can even preach the gospel of veganism and I will also respect you for it because again, it’s your right to free speech. As long as you don’t try to get me to decamp to veganism, nothing is stopping you and me from becoming best friends.
At this point, I think that being a vegan might be more expensive than actually not being one because the kind of food you’ll have to eat to be properly nourished and energized, will cost you a lot of money to replicate it in the greens. Besides, there is not much option in a country like mine, so many things will frustrate you. It’s not like other countries where they make provisions for vegans, I don’t think there’s a vegan restaurant in Nigeria. If you choose to open one, you won’t be getting customers.
I could be wrong though, so if anyone has ever seen a vegan restaurant in Nigeria, please comment it under this post. I would love to know. But then, even with all these limitations, if I could have all the resources I needed and if my society had more support for vegans, I still wouldn’t adopt such a lifestyle. I just don’t see myself choosing a life of only vegetables. Where is the fun in that?
Currently trying to battle my addiction to sugar, it’s not been an easy battle but I’ve been making it work so far. It would be three times as tough for me to switch over to vegan. I love meat, I love milk, and just about everything that comes from animals. I feel it’s just a way of life and it’s the natural order of things. We’re meant to survive off each other by eating each other. Animals eat themselves, other animals eat plants and then the plants eat all of us when we’re dead, decomposed, and part of the soil. It’s a process and I don’t think it’s right to break it.
Of course, there is a limit to the meat I can take. I’ve not had dog meat or snake before, I don’t have a reason but it’s just something I’d prefer to avoid. Even if it’s offered to me, I’d refuse it. There’s no reason, except maybe the fact that it’s always been drummed into my head that dogs are pets and not for eating. Or snakes are naturally haters and you don’t eat them, you simply block them across all social media platforms… hehe!😂
But you see chicken, goat, chicken, cows, CHICKEN!!!! Well, I think you get the point now. I love it and so far, I have no reason to decamp. I don’t know about tomorrow, something could happen that could get me to change my mind. No one knows. But for today, this is a hill I’m ready to lay my bed and go to sleep.
