Water is life. There are no two ways about this because we use water for basically everything in life. Hell, even cars that run on diesel also need water for them to function properly. The world would be a dry and dead place if there was no water. That’s why it’s so important and survival will be minimal without it.
The kind of water we consume is also important. Water gets easily polluted, especially when the residents in the community are nonchalant about the quality of their water. These days, it’s hard to trust any water source, even tap water which used to be peak clean water is no longer viewed as such. And that’s sad. Well water also used to be clean enough to be drunk, but that’s all in the past.
Now, people have to rely on sachet water and bottled water for drinking. While the tap produces water for everything else. In these lodges, people rarely talk about washing the tank, no one would ever agree to it, it’s even possible that in the years since the house was built and the tank installed, it’s never been washed. Not once.
So, you can easily picture how dirty the tank must be. The dirt gathered over the course of the years must have accumulated at the bottom of the tank and thick enough to form a bed under all the water. Everyone knows this, and that’s why no one will dare drink the water.
Some people will prefer to treat the water themselves. They could boil it, they could also use that crystal filter that purifies water. The thing is, not everyone has the time for that. Personally, I don’t have that kind of time. To sit down and boil a large amount of water, before feeding them into bottles and loading them into the fridge. Nah… so I take the more expensive route. I buy pure water.
I know that “Pure water” is only a name and it’s not all that pure, but the only alternative is buying bottled water and that’s just too expensive for a student like me. Besides, the pure water is manufactured in and owned by my school, so I guess I should expect a level of competence, right?
I know someone who says he reacts to pure water, he even started drinking bottled water. The thing is, it’s really hard to know what brand is actually good. It could be fake that could be flooding the streets. Last month, the internet was agog with the discovery of people using the bottles of popular brands to sell their dirty and untreated water.
So, as it stands, it’s getting harder and harder to tell which ones are real. They’re everywhere. This is one reason why buying water in traffic is scary. Yeah, they could be really chilled and all, but I really don’t know if the water is the real deal. I usually prefer to buy soft drinks. At least, I’ve not heard reports of people faking soft drinks. Also, I believe I would know if my drink wasn’t tasting as it should.
Also, whenever I’m going out, I take my water bottle with me to drink water. At least, that’s one water I can trust its source. But if worse comes to worse and I really do have to buy water while I’m on the road, I disregard those hawking it and go to the shops. Actual shops and buy from them. So, if in the case of anything, I’ll have somewhere to pinpoint.
So, this is the kind of water I drink. Buying bags of water almost two to three times a week. At the current price, it’s really telling on my purse, but what can I do? The other option is to go thirsty. Anyway, I really hope that things work out, and we can come to trust our water companies more fervently.
