I guess it’s that time of the year. So many people are beginning to relax from their grueling work routines. Many of them are working less as they’re preparing for the holidays which will be sure to begin soon. But then, can you blame them? This is sure to be the first form of holiday many people will take since the start of the year. Many of us go through the year without breaks and holidays, looking forward to the December and January breaks.
And personally, mine is not going to be different. It’s been a while since I really enjoyed myself with respect to holidays and I’m planning to take advantage of this holiday to do that. Yeah, I know it might not easy to get that done, considering everything I’ll have to do. But then, nothing is ever easy. Not even having fun.
All I know is that I’m already in the month of December and I’m going to do everything I can to enjoy it to the best of my ability. I’ll still work and make money, but I don’t think I’ll be going out of my way to get any jobs for now. That would have to be a stress for next year. But for now, I just have to focus on having a good time.
One of my greatest wishes for this month is to spend it with my family. I spent the last one on my own, going to see friends and taking a few trips to the village. However, I basically spent it all on my own. I don’t want that to be the case this year. I can’t spend yet another yuletide on my own. I think I’d lose my mind. And I’m not cut out for that just yet.
But then, I guess it’s a good thing that many people in my area are already getting into the festive season. So many people are traveling now and I’m sure that within the week, my street would most likely turn into a wasteland. It’s something that happens a lot during holidays but on Christmas, it gets worse because even then many shops refuse to open simply because there will be no customers.
Unfortunately, in this place, the shops are kind of like the life of the area. Shops make the place lively and they give people a reason to come outside and hang out. Especially in shops where they sell simple things like provisions and soft drinks. However, once these people are gone, the streets become empty and everyone remains indoors.
So, whoever decides to stay here for Christmas has to be ready to experience all that. I did last year and it wasn’t the best feeling. I know it was my choice to stay back, although I traveled to my village but it was only for a few days before I hurried back to my lodge. Anyway, I spent most of the holidays there and I’m saying it now that it’s not something I’m looking forward to repeating.
That is why I’ll be celebrating this coming holiday with family. It’s about time the entire band got together again. Or don’t you think so?
