Do people still use the library? I can say the two years I have spent in my current school, I only heard there is a library but I have never been there nor know its location, this is to say that I do not need it since everything I need can be found using my phone.

I also remember a time in my secondary school days when a teacher gave us an assignment and we could only find it in a textbook which could be found in the library, we do not have a library in my school so we had to walk a long distance to visit the public library to look for the textbook and get the assignment done.
Technology has made it accessible now, and all the information we need is at our fingertips but as technology has its advantages, it also has its disadvantages.
All the information is so close but big distractions stopped many of us from making good use of that information...
In the era of the library, when a student entered the library he would see the notice board that said absolute decorum is needed and nothing else is allowed, pick the textbooks you came there to read and do the needful and when you are done, you leave a day in the library is never wasted because you will learn something but in this era of technology [phone and internet] some distractions will always stop you from doing what you plan to do.

A lecturer gave us an assignment that involved computing with Java, So I used AI to search for the answer just when I wanted to start writing the answer, a Tiktok video popped up and I clicked on it, I forgot about the assignment, and spent more than 2 hours watching Tiktok videos, then it dawned on me that I am yet to do my assignment, I reluctantly left the Tiktok app to finish the assignment, assuming the assignment won't be submitted that day, I would have postponed it but because I know the consequence of doing that, I just had to ignore the TikTok fun and do it....
This is something a lot of people face, one moment they are researching something online, and the next moment, they are on a social media app chatting with their loved ones or watching reels... So the internet indeed made it easy to get information, it is a blessing and yes we are more smart and knowledgeable than our predecessors whose knowledge is limited.
The only problem is the distractions that come with it, every good thing indeed has a cost. If everyone can be intentional with the use of the internet to learn, we would be a lot smarter than we are but I doubt the possibility of that, the distractions will always pop up and we will always click on them and forget the reasons for being there.
