Many People have lost their way and purpose because surviving is harder now... People don't care about their potential and their spirituality, it is someone who can afford 3 meals a day who will be curious about it, it is people without a family they want to take care of, who will worry about their existence.... 99 percent of the world only thinks about money now because Money is survival.
The most important thing in the world right now is money, with it comes most of the other things, and without it comes suffering and other negativities you can think of... This is why everyone struggles to earn it no matter what and forgets about themselves in the process.
I spent many years indoors and I have grown to love it now, I can stay indoors for months without getting bored because I am busy working and making money, let us remove money from the equation If we remove the survival instinct of earning money, it feels like I am wasting my life in a room, many people are doing what they don't like because they need to make money if people don't need to earn money, many people would leave the work they are doing, many are in the wrong place but they don't care as long as money is coming.

If life now was the way it was during the first man and woman, you wouldn't find me anywhere near any remote jobs, I would be in a place beautified with nature and work on my spirituality there and also get to know more about this world and why God created us.
As it is now, some people still know their purpose which reminds me of the story of a man.
There was a family, poverty had been in their lineage for 4 generations, and most of them died of hunger and bad health because there was no money to take care of themselves, it went on like that till the fourth generation, Rayhan was born into this family as one of the great-great-grandsons, he grew up not to like the way his family was poor but he was helpless.
One day, he was inside thinking about his life and family when he heard a voice that told him to stroll out and it was like the voice comes with strong force because without wasting any more time, he wore his clothes and obeyed the voice... On his way, he heard a melodies song that pulled him and he followed the direction where the song was coming from, it took him to a church, and he joined them and that was the beginning of a life-changing testimony in Rayhan's life and his family...
He became devoted, born again, and prayed fervently to break every curse affecting his lineage and God answered his prayer, Rayhan happened to be the first child in his family that become rich but as the saying goes, 1 rich man in the midst of poor is still poor, so Rayhan could not really get to the position he wishes because he was always there to provide for his family and he made sure none of them starve again, God saw his sacrifice and blessed Rayhan with a child and it was that child that changed the name of the family to something that the whole world knows because he was famous and rich and also kind like his father.
So Rayhan's purpose in life was to break the curse affecting his family lineage by sacrificing himself and God rewarded him by giving him a blessed child.
We have many stories like Rayhan's story, where it is one person who elevated the status of his family, we have celebrities and stars whose parents were very poor but they change the story... So even though most of us do not know our purpose in life, the purpose will find us.
