Is education a scam? This is a question a lot of us has asked ourselves in the past and most times we end up arriving at different answers, sometimes our answers are influenced by the educational system in our communities and country.
As for me, I feel education isn’t a scam and this is huge coming from someone who lives in a country where the educational system is nothing to write home about. But then, I believe going to school is very important in the lives of everyone because yes we know the lecturers probably don’t lecture like they should but then when has there ever been a time when things was done right in this country?
That shouldn’t be an excuse I know but the reason why I say education isn’t a scam is because irrespective of all of these bad things that we have especially in the Nigerian educational system going to school is very important because it helps evolves our way of thinking but academically and in our every day lives.
When you walk into a place and hear people speak, it wouldn’t be so hard to be able to different the educated ones and the illiterates because of their intellects. These are things that having an education would do for a person.
So yes I agree that Nigeria has a long way to go especially when it comes to their lecturers and the things they lecture to their students, but that shouldn’t change the fact that education plays and will continue to play a very vital role in the lives of every one of us who do choose to be educated.
