Apparently in the last Ten to Fifteen years social media has been tremendous also an eye opener to almost everyone around the globe even those in the rural areas as long as cellphones and Internet are concerned they have access to it.
I will be telling us the MERITS and the DEMERITS Of Social Media, stay with me.
What are the Two MERITS and Two DEMERITS of Social Media?
ONE MERIT OF SOCIAL MEDIA
Social Media serves as a medium for advertisement, I could recall years back we only get informations on the Television or Newspapers but nowadays there are several ways by which we can get information without sitting in front of the Television or reading the Newspapers like we did years ago.
As long as there’s internet we can easily read news and get updates quicker even before television and newspapers carries them. Social media is informative and educating in every aspect of our daily lives.
Some of the social media platforms that have really helped in pushing the world forward today includes Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Snapchat etc..
These are social media platforms that have really helped us with information and they are very easy to access, you don’t need electricity to use them like the Televisions. All you need is your cellphone and internet which we all have right now and making use of them effectively on daily basis.
ANOTHER MERITS OF SOCIAL MEDIA.
The Impacts Of Social Media On Society, I can say that almost half of the world’s population are now on Instagram and Facebook, in Nigeria almost all the internet users are on this platforms for one reason or the other.
Some are on the social media to advertise their products while some are there just to catch fun, it brings about effective interactions between people of different world and helps them in sharing ideas even without seeing each other one on one.
Social Media has imparted so much knowledge in this present generation we no longer find things difficult and it generates income for those who are using it as their source of income like the movie producers and comedians etc, who have captured world’s attention by showcasing what they have. For instance if you want to end boredom just go to either Instagram or Facebook you will laugh and have some good fun and also make some reasonable friends.
Therefore, in this aspect I give credit to social media investors they have really done well by bringing to us helpful means of reaching other people around the glob.
DEMERITS OF SOCIAL MEDIA

The invention of smartphones, iPhones, laptops, iPads, these are really great, incredibly useful and also fun and to kill boredom.
But think about the teenagers in high schools who now abuse them and no longer have self controls even parents are lamenting over social media invention and advancement, this days you see a 15 years old girl shaking buttocks on Snapchat and on Instagram.
I suggest if a child must use cellphone it should be the type of cellphone without internet access there are still cellphones that doesn’t use internet.
Since the invention of social media the teenage life has completely changed from what it used to be in the last Ten to Fifteen years, kids no longer pay attention to their studies and families they only now pay attention to what the other fellow does on social media, kids have been influenced wrongly by social media.
But how do we control this when we don’t go out with them or go to school with them?
That is why I suggested that if a teenager must use cellphone it must be the type of cellphone without internet connection that is the best way to handle the issue of kids been influenced wrongly while a way from home and when they are home they can easily be controlled by their parents.
ANOTHER DEMERITS OF SOCIAL MEDIA
Even in the last two years let’s not go too far, there has been series of killings here and there due to social media lifestyles that a lot of people have adapted, especially women, they are been killed on daily basis due to their COVET.
Presently social media no longer only serve as medium for advertisement but now serve as traps to catch women and use them for money rituals. They now prefer those guys flaunting expensive cars and jewelries better known as Bijouterie..
There’s a say, when you throw a stone into the bush dog 🐕 runs after it and that is what they do to women on social media this days so women really have to be very careful for all that glitters are not good they say..
Since the invention of social media the rate of prostitution has become very high and cannot be controlled anymore, not only in my country but around the glob.
Since the invention of social media diseases have increased drastically and hard to control, HIV &AIDS and other STDs have increased to a certain level that is very hard to control, what am I saying? Social media on this hand has become a mighty boil in the anus that we no longer sit comfortably like we used to years ago.
Social media has broken so many homes and marriages.
What most people see on social media they practice the negative side in their homes and if you look at it very well you will see that is breaking homes daily basis.
I don’t mean to come this far but since I must then had to. So if stepped on an area you don’t like but all that I have mentioned here are the issues affecting us individually on a daily basis.
