One factor that limits us generally is that limiting mindset and comfort zone we make for ourselves in order to escape realities and live in the shadows.
Today, I'll be sharing with you on several ways to overcome limiting beliefs and properly manage emotions.
Beliefs systems can either make us or mar us. It is very important that we scrutinize our beliefs and churn out limiting ones. Limiting beliefs are unacceptable and unhealthy belief standards and patterns we accept for certain self justifiable reasons.
The truth is that we are influenced greatly by our emotions. These emotions are triggered by certain factors such as environment, people and events. Everyone at some point gets emotional, in fact we experience different kinds of emotions daily but what differs most is the way we accept and interpret these emotions. Do we allow these emotions define our behaviour or do we process our emotions properly and interpret them better which gives us more advantage and clarity? Everyday doesn't come with a promise of only positive emotions, in fact we can't control what life throws at us but then we can control how best we respond to issues and how it affects our behaviour . We have to deliberately decide to refine our emotions.
I'll be briefly sharing with us some of the causes of limiting beliefs and how we can overcome them with practice.
CAUSES OF LIMITING BELIEFS
As the saying goes that for every cause, there is an effect. We have to first understand the causes of limiting beliefs before we can clearly define patterns to overcoming them.
- Fear of Failure:
How we sometimes perceive and react to failure is important in our learning journey. The difference between successful people and those who failed traces back to how they handle failures.
The successful ones sees failure as a set back before that envisioned high jump while others see failure as an end and devastating moment.
"A set back is a step back before a high jump - Bishop David Oyedepo"
A perfect example is Thomas Edison, the scientist who invented the light bulb. He failed over and over again but that still didn't deter him from his end goal. Today, we remember him in History not only because he invented the light bulb but also because he taught us to embrace failure and see them as a time for going back to the drawing board. The fear of failure has limited many promising future and had greatly affected learning.
- Avoidance of challenges:
One sure way to grow fast is to always rise to the challenge. It's important to understand that without passing through certain hurdles, test and challenges, we might not gain the needed experience to tackle such situations.
Avoiding Challenges has limited many because they choose to remain in their comfort zone and embrace mediocrity. Learning cannot be improved if challenges are not seen as a stepping stone and growth catalyst.
- Self sabotage:
Self sabotage involves engaging in activities that won't encourage growth and enhance optimised learning such as procrastination, disengaging from class, not seeking for help when needed and many other factors.
Now, we have carefully reviewed some of the causes of limiting factors, let's dive into ways to overcome limiting beliefs and enhance growth and optimised learning.
HOW TO OVERCOME LIMITING BELIEFS
- Rise to the challenge:
The first step to greatness starts when we step out of our comfort zone and accept challenges. Any man who chooses to remain in his comfort zone can not aim higher. Even when it seems like the task assigned is much, confusing and overwhelming, the first step to defeating these mindset is to Rise to the challenge and then consult resources or seek for help.
- Learn continuously:
As the saying goes, Readers are Leaders. If you want to overcome limiting beliefs, first seek help by reading books in the areas lacking. Seek knowledge always and never forget that learning never stops.
- Better together:
"A day spent with a community of learners is far better than a thousand years learning alone"
If you want to climb fast and grow well, be actively part of a community. Learn with like minds and seek for help when needed.
In conclusion, remember that learning never stops and that your thoughts defines who you are. Stop thinking negatively about yourself, get up and rise to the challenge and never doubt in your abilities to create magic.
