Offence is an inevitable phenomenon in the life we live in today days offen times people are offended with the attitude of others around them with out some of those people knowing that they have offended the other person because an offence can only be know when the offended brings a situation to the notice of an offender

Offence is the violation of a laid down rule or principle either of an organisation or an individual., but for this post I will be focusing on individual offence it is impossible for someone whome you don not have some form of business or relationship with to offend you as an individual which means there must be something bringing you together with any one who offends you.

Offence may differ from place to place and from person to person depending on the laid down rules and regulations guarding a locality or the principles of an individual

Sometimes when people are offended the attitude and reaction to the offence is even worse than the offence because two wrongs can not make a right as Newtown second law of motion saying, 'action and reaction are equal and opposite' when a persons reaction to offence is anger the situation is worsened

To handle offence one has to be calm and patient cause when you first reaction to an offendant is harsh you might end up taking actions which you will regret in the future or even say hurtfull words that can jeopardize your relationship with such a person cause when the situation that led to that offence is over the words you said during your rage will not be forgotten.

Some causes of offence

  1. Doing great things that conflicts a person's beliefs system when you are aware that person doesn't accept such character or behaviour can cause offence so I say do unto others what you will be done unto you cause if you can do something to a person without thinking of the consequences of your actions or putting those persons feelings into consideration it means if same is done to you as a person you wouldn't mind

  2. Nonchalant attitude towards work and people can cause offence., during a recent training I attended at the soilless farm lab Awowo, Abeokuta ogun state there was a guybin ny group who will always br the last to come to the field for work unknown to him he was offending some people and when they got tiled they confronted him and he took offence the issue was later resolved by our facilitator.

  3. Disrespect towards elders and pears is another cause of offence

  4. Criticism when you always bad mouth people's opinions and their actions it leads to offence and some times confrontation which can eropt into bigger conflict

While there are more things that can cause offence apart from the four mentioned about offence can cause resentment towards individuals

      HOW TO HANDLE OFFENCE

To handle the issue of offence effectively here are some tips

  1. Patience you must be slow to speak and slow to action in times of offence

  2. Forgive we must learn to let go of offenders in order to focus and enhance our productivity cause unforgiveness leads to bitterness and when you are bitter nothing good can come out of you

  3. Emotional intelligence we need to be able to control our emotions in the event of an offence

  4. Open minded an open mind helpers you listen to criticism and take the positive lessons and move on without any feeling of guilt or rage towards your people

Now it is important to know that in everything we do people will always criticise us it is a part of life but what we do with the criticism either viladates it or voids the criticism and to handle offence effectively you have to know that an offence depends on the offended cause you have a choice to choose what your reaction would be.
