Having friends is a very vital part of a person’s life as they play many important roles. Now, let’s imagine a world where we have to keep to ourselves for the entire 24hours in a day, every single day. How miserable we would have been. I’m not so sure many people would survive for long especially sanguines.
Friends are people who comes through for us in both good; to celebrate with us, and bad times; to comfort us. They lift up our moods in our downtimes, gives us crazy and fun-filled ideas, create beautiful soul memories with, just to mention a few. We have friends we can trust with our deepest secrets and those who are always ready to go to the ends of the world defending us.
I am a person who finds it very easy to make new friends. It comes very naturally to me. For example, let me share a little story about how I made a friend who has become more than a brother to me. Sit tight.
I meet Eugene in my ND (National Diploma) days. I was just a newly admitted architectural design student and I was trying to finish my screening as a new student. That very day, I went to the school’s ICT center, I found out that we had to stand on an already formed queue to which I rushed to join in. Unknown to me, another guy was also coming to join the line and it became a question of who should join first as we both came in to the same time.
It gradually started progressing into an argument untill I decided to give it up and allow him take up the first place before me. Funny enough, he said he was also about letting me take the first place too and stared urging me to do so. Well, I insisted he took the place instead to which he finally agreed and then we stood on the line. After about 5mins, I decided to strike up a conversation. On the process of introducing ourselves, we found out that we were actually admitted into the same department and are going to be coursemates. It became a moment of laughter. We shook hands with each other and proceeded to share contacts. After that day, we kept in touch and resumed classes together.
4years down the line, we’ve become best of buddies. So with the above story, it’s obvious I don’t find it hard to make new friends, so far you don’t prove to be a difficult person on our first meeting.

Another point to note is that I prefer having a few selected, cool, level-headed friends to having a crowd of friends. This is because, I don’t like my inner circle to be a crowd. One or two reliable friend that shares the same beliefs and values with me is absolutely more than enough. Too many opinions gotten from too many persons,, when advice is needed can lead to more confusion instead of clarity. Fewer intellectually capable friends gives better clarity on the subject matter.

Fewer friends also means fewer quarrels for me, since we all know that friends tend to have disagreements at one point or the other and I am a guy of few words. The lesser the shouting and quarrelling, the better for me.

Finally, I do have a large number of acquaintances and you’ll always find me waving or greeting them on the walkways or parks, but those who are my true friends are quite few and always will be, which is just perfect.
A new friend is welcome so far you are coming with a truckload of new ideas, great intellect, honesty and trustworthiness.
