In a one way or the other most of us has done self medication wether by taking english drugs or by taking herbal drugs, fact is we can’t always get access to doctors or nurse except maybe you have either of them as a close family member or friend, which is why so many people just go ahead to the pharmacy and buy any type of drugs they think would help them at that particular moment…me personally I do it sometimes but I mostly do it when I get some random headache, or running stomach, I just go the chemist and get me a panadol or lemotil and flagyl respectively, I these particular drugs because I know that its been working for me for years and even if I were to tell the pharmatist or chemist how I was feeling they would have also given me same type of drugs.
Yes self medication is fast and most times active when you know exactly what you doing but can also be very dangerous, honestly I’d advice self medications only when a person just has a headache, body pains, or running stomach or flu apart from these I wouldn’t especially when it comes to sickness like malaria, fever, ulcer and any of such.. so many peole just go the pharmacy without a test results and get drugs which is extremely bad, I am also guilty of this but I learnt some lessons through my cousins condition and also an unknown lady too.
My cousin was sick and down with malaria according her, I didn’t see no test results and neither did she show the chemist woman any results too, she jusy told the lady that she wanted malaria drugs, and lady sold some drugs to her that’s also know to be malaria drugs, my cousing bought the drugs and went home, the next day she came to our shop because she actually bought the drugs at chemist close to our, as she was approaching I could see her face was swollen like some who got beaten by a group of people, Immediately I saw the first thing I did was to burst to into laughter because I couldn’t hold it, she said she took the drugs and woke up the next dat with her face all swollen without knowing what had happened to her, from that moment I knew that she had allergy but didn’t know which of the actual drugs did that to her face.
The second lesson I learnt was from a lady who also came to buy malaria drugs, according to her she was feeling feverish and she also taught she had malaria too, but unknowingly to her she was pregnant, she bought the drugs and took them which led to bleeding and she lost the pregnancy, she came back to the chemist and was trying to her fight woman, that the lady gave her abortion pills, it wasn’t a small issue on that very day o, the chemist didn’t know that the lady was pregnant and also she failed because I believe she was supposed to ask for test results before giving out drugs, also the lady in question was also at fault for not running proper test.
