I'm going to focus on something I've done in the last month that I've considered "fun", as the concept varies depending on the person defining it.
I want to clarify that I have been without leaving the house for the last month beyond what is necessary, as I have fasciitis, and I am in therapy. That frustrated me quite a bit, because I live alone, and spending all day at home is disconnecting from the world, not being able to visit friends, etc.
So I thought I'd chat with people over the Internet. Here's this point: I understand that some people are embarrassed to go on these sites, because it's basically synonymous with being bored, but it doesn't bother me; I really needed to get away from the confinement. I looked for a website where I could enter without the whole annoying registration process, and I entered.
On that first page (it is the first one that appears when you search for "chat en línea sin registro" in Spanish). I immediately realized that there were several problems with the site:
If you accidentally close or reload the page, you lose all conversations and never get the person again.
There is too much spam.
You have no way to check anything about the person you are talking to, unless they give you a valid social network.
So I tried other links, but they would take me to the same chat. Until I found it.
A site where you can send audios.
Messages are saved.
And there are more real and varied people.
Then, that's when the good stuff started. Let's just say I met some interesting characters. I will describe some of them:
A young man with the voice of Rubius (streamer from Spain) with a rather particular obsession with Latin accents.
An older man who was in the chat because he has almost no time to interact in real life, since he is busy raising a son (he is a single father) and taking care of his sick mother (that case was sad for me).
An older woman (he told me she is a lesbian) stalker. She never tired of writing to me even though I didn't write back. Insistent and neurotic, the poor lady. But it's understandable, she's a moderator of the site on a daily basis.
A couple of teenagers, supposedly a boy and a girl, friends, who were looking for me to agree with one of them on an issue (or so I read). I gave them some advice to protect themselves (pretending to be very knowledgeable) and went on my way.
A girl who said she's in jail because she accidentally killed someone. 😬
Many men desperate for female attention, who called me beautiful even though they never saw me 😂.
A Spaniard who was racist, nationalistic and macho. He really pissed me off and I told him what he had to hear. Now it makes me laugh remembering it (at the end he told me it was a role he was playing) 🙃.
People from Bolivia, USA, Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Mexico.
A couple of smart, sober, funny guys who would be my friends if they lived near me.
Those are some that I remember now. We talked about experiences, I played characters, imitated accents, sang, talked about common likes and dislikes and other fun stuff.
As a disclaimer: I do not support or encourage minors to enter these sites at all. And I recommend to those of legal age who do enter to be very cautious about the information they give online and to research how it works before trying risky things. In particular, I passed almost no photos or social networks to anyone.
So, was it fun? Well yes, most of the time I was able to laugh and share ideas with people who are also hiding under the mask of anonymity, and it's good to see what people don't say in person; as it's the most revealing thing about them.
But that's just my experience, what about you?
