When Music Becomes Your Escape

The Role of Music in Our Lives

We all experience mood swings at some point in our lives. In such moments, we often turn to music to uplift our mood. Whether we’re medicating, studying, writing a blog, or simply looking to escape the world for a while, music accompanies us in every scenario.

But today, I’m not just talking about songs. Music exists in various forms: in speeches, audiobooks, and even in Quranic recitations with added natural sounds.

Rain Sound and Rainforest Animal Sound – Relaxing Sleep

My journey with white noise began when I was preparing for my 12th standard exams, and there was construction work going on at our house. A friend of mine told me that in China and some other countries, students are allowed to play white noise during exams to help them stay focused. Out of curiosity, I searched for white noise on YouTube and came across sounds like waterfalls, thunderstorms, and even washing machines. These did help me to some extent, but I didn’t feel an urgent need for them back then.

Now that I’ve started writing more often, I have to deal with the noise of children (my nieces) and occasional arguments or voices from outside my window. In such situations, the jungle-themed white noise has been incredibly helpful in keeping me productive. Over time, this specific sound has become an essential part of my routine whenever I need to lock in and work. I even created an abstract artwork inspired by it, titled "Enigma."

Music for Work – Deep Chillstep Music

I frequently deal with financial tasks like tokenomics, trading, and preparing graphical representations in Excel sheets. In such scenarios, I cannot tolerate background noise, as it increases the chances of making errors in calculations. For this reason, this type of music feels like a blessing for me, it keeps me calm and focused.

'I AM RICH' | Money Affirmations | Listen Before You Sleep!

I remember listening to this long ago on my MP3 player while completing 10 rounds of walking in the park. Afterward, I would sit straight or lie down on the grass, taking deep breaths while looking at the sky. However, I never listened to it from a financial or "money-attraction" perspective. For me, it was similar to practicing the "law of attraction."

This practice benefited me a lot. A few months ago, I had the privilege of meeting Syed Zahid Hussain Zaidi, a professor of mind sciences. During our discussion about the law of attraction, I found that I could resonate deeply with his insights, as if I had studied the subject thoroughly. Many of the books on his table were ones I had read in parts, though I realized there were several Urdu books in his collection that I had not explored yet.

There are many audiobooks with calming and meditative music that greatly assist me in relaxation. Their nature-inspired sounds play a significant role in helping me stay grounded and focused during meditation.

Quran What Says About "KAASH" (I Wish/If Only)

This is an audio compilation of all the verses in the Quran where the phrase "I wish" or "If only" is mentioned. It narrates discussions between humans and Allah, where Allah speaks directly to mankind through the Quran. Whenever I feel that I have unintentionally hurt someone, I listen to this and find myself in tears. I also have a habit of memorizing translations of Quranic verses, so I sometimes listen to this for revision purposes.

Quran with Rain and Thunder Sounds – Surah Yunus

I listen to this when I’m feeling angry but still need to get work done. Imagine being in an argument or heated debate and then needing to shift to a creative mindset, this helps me cool down. The background nature sounds connect me deeply with nature and provide a soothing effect.

Closing Thoughts

I know many songs by heart and enjoy humming them frequently. Did you know that music can influence your mood and behavior? You can observe this in everyday scenarios. For example:

In restaurants, light music is played during quiet hours, especially in the afternoon, to make you feel like you're running late or have other pending tasks, subtly encouraging you to leave.

In malls, specific music paired with bright lighting creates an ambiance that helps you forget the outside world and encourages you to spend more.

Even audiobooks often have subtle background music to enhance the listening experience.

It’s fascinating to note that Prophet Dawood (David, peace be upon him), upon whom the Zaboor was revealed, had such a melodious voice that when he praised Allah, humans, jinns, birds, and other creatures would gather to listen to his beautiful recitation.

Music is truly powerful, it influences our emotions, thoughts, and actions in profound ways.

After reading this article, I have realized that you think a lot. I mean, if I speak about myself, I have never presumed about things so extremely. I am surprised this piece from you is presumably very inspiring to me.

The qualities, flaws, and shortcomings of the trimmest things are described in words in such a way that they touch the heart.

I have also listened to most of these lyrics. I have also touched many of the things that you have felt, but I have never considered them so much.
