Hi everyone! How're y'all doing today? It feels really nice to be back here again after a long time of being in a hive.
Welcome to Week 118:- Edition 01:-. And today, I'll be writing about the topic given out to discuss in the #hivelearners weekly featured edition contents titled "No More Alcohol." It's a pretty nice and interesting topic to write about.
Are the damaging effects of alcoholic drinks any different from the damaging effects of hard drugs?
Firstly, it's a yes and a no answer from my end if you ask me. Because personally, I believe in the saying that says too much of everything is bad.
And I know that if alcoholic drinks were not abused in society, it wouldn't be giving us issues the way it is right now in the country.
It's never a crime to take alcohol. But where the problem comes in is when you seem to abuse it. Taking an alcoholic drink is something that should not be abused because of the effects it has on the body.
If you want to take alcohol, you shouldn't take it in a way that will affect you. It should be something taken lightly because of the effects of the hardness on us.
Because the substances can create negative impacts on a person's physical and mental health, as well as their overall well-being.
Is one a lesser evil than the other?
Honestly, it is difficult for me to compare the two substances because each of them has its own risks and consequences.
Some say that alcohol is a lesser evil compared to hard drugs due to its social acceptance in the community.
But something they seem not to understand better is that alcohol can be highly addictive if one is not careful and can cause harm if abused.
If you had the power to make alcoholic drinks a banned commodity, just like drugs, do you think it'd make society any better?
If I had the power, I would not necessarily make alcoholic drinks a banned commodity like hard drugs. Instead, I would focus on implementing stricter regulations to help reduce the negative effects they can have on society.
Because in this country of mine, Nigeria, banning alcohol entirely will only create a black market for those who are into it, and it will only lead to other unintended consequences.
So the best I will try to do if I have the power is to regulate it and give the people educational guidelines to help them see from my view the reasons for doing that.
Because banning alcohol alone might not necessarily make society a better place but rather could lead to other problems.
There are people out there struggling with addiction, and I feel the best thing we can do to help them out of it is to provide support to help regulate it.
Thank you for taking the time to go through my content, and I hope you've had lots of amazing moments in this community and have learned lots of lessons from it's weekly prompt.
