In order for a society to live in harmony and maintain order, laws have been created and must be complied with by everyone. From this perspective, one might think that we are not totally free, because if we break a law, we can be punished. In the Holy Bible, at the very beginning of creation, God gave man and woman free will to choose the path they wanted. However, He also left them laws to follow, such as the Ten Commandments.
When we adopt this perspective, we realize that we can do whatever we want, but if our actions harm others or break a law, we can be penalized. “You shall not murder” (Exodus 20:13) is the sixth commandment left by God. If we commit such an act, we will be punished by the law. However, justice sometimes fails and is unable to punish the offender. Even if the person is not punished by the law, the death they caused will certainly remain in their mind, reminding them of the act they committed.
I believe that we have free will, although for some this may be seen as “pseudo-freedom”. However, there are limits to everything in life. If these limits didn't exist, everyone could commit acts that harm others, such as stealing something that someone has fought to gain. In 1 Corinthians 6:12, the Bible reminds us: “All things are lawful for me, but not all things are expedient for me.” In other words, we can do whatever we want, but there are actions that, if carried out, have consequences, and we must bear the responsibility for our actions.
A society without limits would be chaos. Without laws, people would do whatever they wanted, stealing, killing and so on, resulting in real disorder. We live in a society with “pseudo-freedom”, but it is this structure that allows us to live in harmony and order. Laws are human creations and many of them are flawed or favor certain groups. Politicians, for example, create various laws that benefit themselves and harm society and the poorest. Too much of anything is bad for you, and the same applies to too many laws. Perhaps if there were just a few laws, things would be simpler and freedoms would be closer to the ideal of absolute freedom.
In my country, for example, there are many laws aimed at protecting women. In the beginning, these laws were very much welcomed by society, as they were necessary to protect women from physical and psychological abuse. Over time, more laws were created or extended, giving women excessive powers. What we see in society is that many men are avoiding serious relationships with women, as men have often become the vulnerable part of society. Women can often claim aggression that didn't happen, and their word becomes more important than the man's. In addition, they can force a relationship with a man. In addition, they can force a man who is not the father of their child to pay alimony, even if the relationship is short. There are so many absurd laws that many men end up distancing themselves from women, which clearly harms families and society. Therefore, an excess of laws in a society can take away the feeling of freedom, as can the absence of laws.

Sob essa ótica, pode-se pensar que não somos totalmente livres, pois, ao infringirmos uma lei, podemos ser punidos. Na Bíblia Sagrada, logo no princípio da criação, Deus deu ao homem e à mulher o livre-arbítrio, para que escolhessem o caminho que desejassem. Quando adotamos essa perspectiva, percebemos que podemos fazer tudo o que quisermos, mas, se nossas ações prejudicarem o próximo ou descumprirem alguma lei, podemos ser penalizados. "Não matarás" (Êxodo 20:13) é o sexto mandamento deixado por Deus. Caso cometamos tal ato, seremos punidos pela lei. No entanto, a justiça por vezes falha e não consegue aplicar a punição ao infrator. Mesmo que a pessoa não seja punida pela lei, a morte que ela causou certamente ficará na sua mente, lembrando-lhe do ato cometido.
Acredito que temos livre-arbítrio, embora para alguns isso possa ser visto como uma "pseudo-liberdade". No entanto, em tudo na vida há limites. Uma sociedade sem limites seria um caos. Sem leis, as pessoas fariam o que quisessem, roubando, matando, entre outros, resultando em uma verdadeira desordem. Vivemos em uma sociedade com "pseudo-liberdade", mas é essa estrutura que permite que vivamos em harmonia e ordem. As leis são criações humanas e muitas delas são falhas ou favorecem determinados grupos. Os políticos, por exemplo, criam diversas leis que beneficiam a si próprios e prejudicam a sociedade e os mais pobres. Tudo em excesso faz mal, e o mesmo se aplica ao excesso de leis. Talvez, se houvesse apenas algumas leis, as coisas seriam mais simples e as liberdades mais próximas de um ideal de liberdade absoluta.
No meu país, por exemplo, há muitas leis voltadas para a proteção das mulheres. No início, essas leis foram muito bem-vindas pela sociedade, pois eram necessárias para garantir a proteção das mulheres contra abusos físicos e psicológicos. Com o tempo, mais leis foram criadas ou ampliadas, conferindo poderes excessivos às mulheres. O que percebemos na sociedade é que muitos homens estão evitando relacionamentos sérios com mulheres, já que o homem, em muitos casos, se tornou a parte vulnerável da sociedade. As mulheres podem, muitas vezes, alegar agressões que não ocorreram, e sua palavra passa a ser mais importante que a do homem. Além disso, elas podem forçar um homem que não seja o pai de seu filho a pagar pensão alimentícia, mesmo com pouco tempo de relacionamento. São tantas leis absurdas que muitos homens acabam se afastando das mulheres, o que claramente prejudica as famílias e a sociedade. Portanto, um excesso de leis em uma sociedade pode retirar a sensação de liberdade, assim como a ausência de leis.
