I don't have children yet, so I'm not the best person to give an opinion on how much parents' upbringing influences their children's behavior. It's a mistake to think that educating and molding a child in your own way will make them follow the path intended by their parents.
Each person is unique, with different behaviors and temperaments. It's common to have a family where one child is more active and the other quieter, even if the siblings are twins.
Considering this premise, it doesn't mean that giving a good upbringing, teaching the right way will be enough to keep children away from the wrong things.
I've witnessed a family with good financial conditions who gave their child the best, paid for the best education. Unfortunately, their son went down the path of drugs, putting his life at risk.
I've also seen cases of people who had everything to do badly in life, because they lived in an environment where their parents weren't good role models. In addition, they lived in a place where crime and drugs reigned supreme, but this person saw in education a light at the end of the tunnel.
But the issue here is who is to blame when a child goes off the rails and commits crimes or behaves badly towards society. I believe that both parents and children bear some responsibility for this.
My mother-in-law has two teenage children, both of whom have had the same upbringing. However, the eldest was always more active as a child and always got into more trouble than his younger brother.
There was a time when this older son was causing a lot of trouble at school by getting involved in fights and heavy situations. He started to rebel at home and seemed to be in charge of his own nose. At the age of 14-15, he was making life hell for his parents. He wanted to get tattoos and dye his hair blue, green, pink and other colors of the rainbow.
While the younger brother was always more peaceful, he was easier to get along with, respecting and obeying his parents' orders. But why are they so different, given that they live under the same roof and have the same upbringing?
This is because each person has their own way of being and their own natural instincts, which they carry with them from birth. However, parents have a share of responsibility in raising their children, as they must provide a favorable environment full of opportunities for them to become better people.
Even so, there are many people who, through their own volition or the influence of false friends and colleagues, end up making the wrong decisions. How many children have started using drugs, stealing or been arrested for one of these things? And in most cases, it's not the parents' fault, because they've always given their children the best upbringing.
My opinion is that both children and parents bear a share of responsibility for these misbehaviors. What's more, most of the responsibility lies with the children themselves, who make their own decisions.
