As I look back in time, I analyse this year carefully, and I realize that I really do have a lot to be thankful for. The year has been full of ups and downs, hills and valleys, but amidst it all, one can still always find a reason to celebrate.
First and foremost, I am thankful that I am even still alive. There were two specific occasions where I was on a bike with bike riders who were particularly crazy and I almost crashed onto the road. For all its faults, earth is a beautiful place, and I smile in appreciation to God whenever I wake up and draw my first breath of the day. I smile in appreciation for the gift of life.
I am thankful that I got into my first romantic relationship this year. Sadly, that ship has sailed and the relationship ended about a year ago. Although, I do not plan on getting into another relationship anytime soon(till I graduate in July at least), it was indeed nice to have loved someone, even if I loved and lost. I did learn a lot of things, about myself and about others, from this experience of dating despite its abrupt end, that I believe are very important and useful to me in the long run.
I am grateful that I am closer to graduating from school than ever before. I am a medical student and ai have currently spent about 6 years and 10 months in school. Truthfully, I've been kinda tired of the whole monotonous, stressful school process for a while now. So despite some of the crazy things that have happened to me this year, and the fact that I recently failed a paper I would have to resit and pass, I am truly and genuinely happy that the end of my time in school draws closer by the second.
Another thing that I am grateful for this year is this platform -HIVE. Even though I wasn't as consistent with my posting as I would've loved, the little time I did spend posting, and engaging with other people on this platform has been profoundly rewarding. This platform has also given me a huge confidence boost with regards to my guitar playing and music in general. I honestly used to think, and sometimes still think, that I am really not that good on the guitar, but all the positive comments and cheering on I receive on this platform has been increasingly instrumental in giving me a substantial confidence boost concerning my musical skills. And for that, I am very grateful.
The last thing that I would mention here that I bam grateful for is family. I am grateful for the gift of the constant support of my family. I have a loving, hard-working father, a loving, caring, mother, and two adorable younger sisters. They mean the world to me. I am so grateful that home serves as a shelter from the storms of life that rage outside. I am grateful for the tough, yet gentle love that has shaped is into the upright people we are today. I hope we all live long.
Obviously, there are going to be a lot more things that I am thankful for, but I'll stop the list her for now.
I pray that God protects us all and transports is safely and heartily into the new year.
