If The Heart Is Not Involved, It's Not Charity

We are in a society where people are so concerned about making names for themselves. Some people can organize a reach out, visit areas where people are in need, and offer them necessary support just to get an avenue to capture the entire event in order to make names for themselves.

I believe a lot of us have witnessed such things, our dear politicians are fond of it. They can spend millions on charity work just to be able to capture and keep it in their archives as a track record of generosity. Sometimes, even go further to post them on social media so that people will have the impression that they are good.

But deep in their hearts, what they are after is not really helping the people. If they had other means to get what they wanted without spending, those people would never smell any assistance from them.

Humans are selfish in nature, most people are more concerned about what they will get at the end of the day, the profit is the main thing and nothing less.

Seriously, if I discover that someone is helping me not because he/she cares but for selfish interest, I'll be hurt and I'll cease to take such support from the person.

Giving is first of all the thing of the heart, it is an act of love, it is supposed to be triggered by compassion and not selfish interests. You didn't truly give if it didn't come from your heart.

If the praise from men is what you are after, the good news is that giving doesn't go unrewarded, whether someone sees you doing it or not. You will surely reap it either directly from the people you helped or from someone else. People hardly keep mute about good things done to them, they will surely spread the news. So why the hypocrisy?

A man recently died in my community. When I went for the burial something caught my attention. The people who cried the most were outsiders. Some widows and orphans were busy crying and testifying of the good things the man did for them while he was alive.

The whole thing pricked my heart and motivated me to live a life that was full of supporting people around me. Now here is where I am driving, the man had never snapped or video any of those things and posted on social media yet his works spoke for him even when he died.

Hypocrisy is one thing I despise a lot, I know that whether a person helps people with good intentions or not he or she has done well for them yet, I see that as a waste. There is no blessing attached to it. Yes, the people will benefit from it, and they will enjoy it but you as the helper are on the losing side. Imagine the people find out that your intentions for helping them was to just use them.

A lot of them will hate you in return, people love to be respected, and you don't have to bring them so low and show the entire world that they are helpless. A little act of love you display towards people with respect is worth more than any big gift you give to them with a selfish intention.

I love where you said,

You didn't truly give if it didn't come from your heart

The truth 💯
It becomes a part of you when you give genuinely from the heart. Believe me, receivers know when it's a show off. They practically don't have a choice because they need it.

Your last words sums it all up

LoL, it's well ma. Moreover they are not losing anything, whether your intentions are good or not

You've mentioned the important things, our intention while giving is paramount, we should try as much as possible to give because we care and because we want to help not because we want people to see us and then praising us in return.
Infact I cherish those that help low-key.

That is sir, I know giving to be a thing birthed out of love... We don't need to loud the act..

Thanks for reading sir

Open hands often receive gifts in return but like you said of our politicians, they do good so as to receive praise and attention. Anyways, at least people are beneficiaries of such gestures. The late man surely lived a purpose fulfilled life by his acts of generosity

Hahaha, as long as people benefit, they are on their own 🤣

That man's life is a life worth emulating..

Thanks for showing up sire
