Rekindling A Commitment To Medical Check

Although we know that our health is one of the biggest assets that we are endowed with, most of us still don't take it as a priority until when something begins to go wrong.

It is so unfortunate that we can work 24/7 stressing our bodies just to earn, but we barely take just a little out of our time to go for a check monthly to know the state of our health.

Some individuals continue that way and they get caught up with diseases that eventually force them to visit the hospital monthly even when they do not want to.

I am very sure that if you interact with ten people, you may get at least five out of them that can't account for their health status.

It is so pathetic, some individuals will even tell you they know they are okay, they eat good food and maintain personal hygiene, why go for a check? Some will even tell you that if you visit the hospital, even when nothing is wrong with you, the personnel will make something up for you.

I have seen people who were so sick, yet refused to go to the clinic for proper treatment because of that crazy mentality until their situation became bad.

I think a lot of us are getting so many things wrong about the hospital. Some people see that place as hell, they believe that only those with medical challenges should visit such places but if you don't feel anything tormenting your body physically, then you don't have the need.

The question there is, how do you know that you are fine when you didn't go for a check? The fact that you don't feel pain in any part of your body doesn't mean all is well. Some diseases take time to show up, and it may even be bad when we allow them to grow to that extent.

I believe we are all familiar with cases of people who never laid down or complained about being sick but slumped and died. Reaching the hospital, you would then hear that they have a medical challenge.

Now, because I said all the above, it doesn't mean I am not a victim. In fact, my case is terrible. I feel ashamed that I said all that yet I am also a big victim.

In my life, I can only pinpoint one scenario where I deliberately went to the hospital to check my health without necessarily having any health challenges.

It was even fear that drove me that day. It seems, the thought of one of my friends who went for a check-up feeling very strong only to discover that he was having hepatitis was what compelled me.

And guess when I did the check? Second quarter of 2024. Since then I have not done anything like that again.

But as life will have it, malaria and typhoid kept attacking me and I was forced to keep visiting the hospital for treatment.

I feel challenged by this prompt honestly and because of this, I will take action on this aspect. I may not be too consistent with the practice but even if it will be once in three or four months, I will commit to going for a check starting this month.

We don't have to wait to fall sick before we go for a check up. Most people's conditions became critical as a result of this kind of carelessness, if at all their situations were discovered on time and given proper attention, it may have not become complicated.

I know someone who doesn't believe in medical checkups; they feel because they look healthy, it means all is well within them.

I don't joke with my health. Whenever I feel something different inside of me, I don't hesitate but run to the clinic for medical checkups.

There are a lot of people like that . Some will even tell you that that those who go to the clinic for a check are looking for sickness for themselves.

That's a very good habit you've got there, I wish to cultivate that too

Hehe. Crazy how people underrate their health. One thing I think is a reason for people ignoring check up might be the fear from poverty

Hmm, you've got a huge point here sir. Funny enough, those medical services are usually not as expensive as we think and even if they are, come on, it's our health we are talking about.

Sha, I hope that someday medical services will be free so that everyone can have access to it.
