Rural Or Urban, My Choice
I have been privileged to live both in the rural and urban areas. Though I lived more in the rural than the urban. Life in these two places has its good and bad side.
Truly, living in an urban area is fun and full of opportunities. Everything out there seemed to be easy, the high population makes it easy for one's services to be demanded, thus, making jobs available.
Though the cost of living is high, almost everything one needs for survival is available.
I remember when my uncle was sick a few years ago, we took him to the local hospitals here but they said they didn't have the kind of apparatus and doctors that could handle his situation.
They referred us to a big hospital, and on reaching there, the man couldn't hold on anymore, he passed away.
If it were in the city, I believe we wouldn't need to travel kilometers to get a very good hospital that would attend to him. It may cost much but our problem would have been solved.
Personally, what I love so much about life in the urban area is the exposure it gives me. When you are in your local environment, you may be tempted to think you know it all. The day you will be shamed is the day you are opportune to travel out.
If you think you've touched some level of money, you will see someone who has it like water. Whatever you think you know, you will see someone that has double of and it looks like nothing to the person.
You know those things are challenging, they will make you want to step up and reach for greater heights.
Of course, there are challenges attached to living in urban areas, the prominent one is the high cost of living. It's as if the higher the opportunities, the higher the cost of living. Life isn't free out there, you pay for everything, if not for anything, the tax would have been attached to even walking on the street.
Another one is the high crime rate, if you want to see a high level of wickedness, go to cities. Robbery, kidnapping, murder, and so on are very high in those areas. Probably it's because of the fact that everyone there came from different places and wants to survive by any means.
On the other hand, rural area is the center of peace. Life is quite cheap and full of love. Most of the people there are related, so they see each other as brethren.
Although there are fewer opportunities, and the majority of the people are farmers, they seem to appreciate what they have and adjust to live comfortably.
As good as settling in those areas looks, it also has its disadvantages, lack of amenities, poor educational facilities, poor medical care and so much more.
I am the kind of person who loves peaceful environments. I love rural areas I won't deny, but I won't choose it over the Urban.
Even though life in urban areas seems to be difficult, I would still choose it over and over. This is because people are not made in a place of comfort.
When you remain in a place where you feel all that you see is all that there is, you would be limited. One needs to go out there and face the fire of life so that he/she can be made.
You can remain in your rural area and enjoy good company, enjoy the little you have but you may not be able to exploit your full potential.
Nevertheless, this is my opinion, everyone has theirs and I am not necessarily saying that one can't make it in life in the rural area, of course you can, there are farmers who are very wealthy that reside in rural areas.
It depends also on what your field is and what you are pursuing in life. I believe that location also has a role to play in our destinies.
Just understand where your location is and build yourself there, the wrong location will keep you stagnant and if you don't do anything about it, it may kill your dreams.
