The most demanding aspect of every human life is finance, everyone going to different lengths in order to survive. As a result of this, it has made it a lot difficult to maintain work-life balance. People find themselves doing all sort of things that their jobs demands just to have the kind of life they desire, the more you earn - the higher the chances of enjoying a luxurious lifestyle free from poverty and struggle but at what cost? It suddenly seems like a small price to pay for the kind of life we dream of, as cruel as it might sound it is the sad reality we all face. There are also jobs that doesn't only just demand our time and effort but also seek to control an aspect of our lives.

We are all humbled by something, there is something in every human lives that when it comes to it, all we find ourselves saying is yes in order to just get by. The most common of it all occurs in interview halls, it is quite painful to see what humans are willing to agree to just to get a job, I wouldn't blame them we all have bills to pay which are capable of pushing us to the verge of desperation, "desperation" being a factor most employers notice in the face of majority of job seekers, knowing quite well that they will be willing to do almost anything just to get the job, especially if it is the kind of job with good pay and incentives, being conscious of this employers use it as a tool to manipulate job seekers into agreeing to all sort of demands.

It is now a game of what are you willing to sacrifice to get a job? How desperate are you to get the job? Mind you the moment you work out the door because you feel like the demands set by the organisation is absurd, there are thousands of people who are willing to accept whatever demands is stated by the organisation with no questions asked. To make matters worst, the thought that goes through every interviewees mind while being interviewed is "if I should disagree with the terms set by this organisation, when next will I be opportune to get another employment offer". The facts stands, the scarcity of jobs is something that remains at the back of the mind of every job seeker, so when they find one within their grasp, there comes more than a thousand reasons not to let go.

Speaking of conditions set by employers, should employees be willing to submit their social media handle to their employers? Terms of employment is given to every employee which means it is a matter of choice, you choose to accept or reject. Like I said earlier, we all have our reasons for seeking employment and in cases like this it is not a matter of being willing or not, for most people it is their needs that controls their will. It doesn't really matter what the organisation wants to use their social media handle for, they are willing to oblige just to get the job. Mind you no one can outrightly be forced to willingly submit their social media handle because it is a private property of every individual and we are entitled to choose which part of our life we are willing to lay down for the sake of employment.

Will I be willing to submit? Definitely not. I personally find this condition extremely absurd. It doesn't really matter what good it will do to the organisation offering me employment, what matters is whatever I choose to do with my social media handles remains private and out of concern for my employer. It is not as if submitting of social media handle will grant them control over my social media accounts but it will grant them the ability to monitor my social media activities which can be used against me whenever they wish.

Knowing how dubious employers can be, it is not as if they will be completely transparent about the way information gotten from my social media handles will be used. As long as my social media handle has no direct link to my duties in the organisation I will never agree to such condition because there are some jobs that demands employees using there social media handles to perform some task for the organisation to earn incentives and it will be within the right of such organisation to demand employees social media handles in order to confirm if they are truly performing the task. What if it is what stands between me and my dream job? Well I guess the job was never mine to be in the first place, if truly it is my dream job, it will never come with such conditions because I know what I dream of.

Your post highlights the harsh realities of the work environment these days.

We have grown so accustomed to the whims of employers that nothing seems out of the ordinary anymore. For instance, sharing social media handles as mentioned by you.

One needs to set up boundaries as to what is acceptable and what's not when it comes to bending to company rules.

I feel like there's no good motive behind asking employees to submit their social media accounts for whatever. It is a way for the employees to exercise total control over their workers.

Wow!
I'm really surprised as you said may be the job was never yours.😁
Well, it's what you think though.
But please, answer this question. Is anything on social media private?

The truth is... Hunger would make you do anything. Even what you hate. It only gets worse when you have kids and other forms of responsibility looking onto you for sustenance. Omo, if the condition for getting a job is invading your social space, you just might find people agreeing to it. Thats how low the world hass sunk.
