First week of the Newbies' Initiative Program ended very well. Now we are onto the second week which is even more exciting and informative. I have gone through all the study material and still exploring new information. But before the time runs out, I am supposed to complete the task 2 and will continue with my reading later on.
How has been your experience with Hive since you joined?
Illuminating! I wasn't sure about my decision of joining Hive at first. But with each passing day, there's always something new to learn. I get to show my abilities and test my capabilities without any external pressure of doing something just because I have to and not because I love to. I believe this makes a lot of difference; when you love doing what you do, it is reflected in your work.
I joined Hive with a very positive mindset. My aims and goals were simple; read and write, learn and teach, build a genuine circle with like-minded people. With these aims in mind, so far, I have enjoyed every minute I spent here. I look forward to working on new content and read the content of my fellows with great pleasure.
It wouldn't be fair if I don't mention my Newbie Initiative mentors and fellow newbies. They don't make me feel alone here. I don't know any of them personally, but they remind me that we are in this together; working hard to build a reputation for ourselves on this amazing platform.
It's quite relieving to know that there are some people (@vickoly, @starstrings01, @dlmmqb (my on-boarder and first mentor)) who would genuinely guide me with best interest at heart.
All these people and the million opportunities that Hive holds together make my experience here fabulous and worth sharing.
Why is Plagiarism frowned upon on Hive?
Not just Hive, plagiarism shouldn't be accepted anywhere. It is equivalent to stealing.
Imagine, doing all the hard work, spending a lot of time in creating something unique, only to find out that some random guy/gal reshared your content as their own, without giving you any credits. Outrageous!
If this bothers you, then you shouldn't do that to others as well. It is as simple as that.
Nobody can get away with plagiarism, sooner or later, they will be caught. It's better to create unique content, cite properly and follow the copyright laws. This practice makes the blog looks more professional and build the blogger's credibility faster.
Anyways, Hive was built on the idea of Proof of Brain so let's just keep it that way.
Explain why the use of tags is very important on Hive.
Tags or Hashtags on Hive are somewhat like what keywords are on Search Engines. Both are used to reach a specific kind of content. Right hashtags can help get better visibility by attracting right kind of audience.
There are different kinds of posts being published every few seconds. If a user wants to read something specific, it would be a lot of hassle if he goes through each post one by one to find what he wants to read. Instead, if he simply searches a specific tag then all the posts using that tag will be displayed. It's important that we use the right tags so that our posts can be easily found by those who are looking for it.
Using tags is important but using the right ones is more important. Imagine finding a food related post in crypto tag. This is tag abuse which should strongly be discouraged. It defies the true purpose of tags and brings no good whatsoever.
If you don't know the purpose of a specific tag, just don't use it.
List some general tags you know on Hive. Explain the difference between these tags.
General tags are those which can be used in any kind of post. There are many tags that if used can also help earn respective tribe tokens. Following are some tags that I know of and use regularly:
General Tags | Purpose |
---|---|
#pob, #proofofbrain | Since all the content on Hive should be creation of your mind so this tag can be used in any post. It helps earn POB tokens. |
#neoxian | Created by Neoxian community and helps earn neoxian token |
#vyb | Using this tag helps earn VYB token |
That's pretty much all about tags and task 2 in general. Looking forward to next week already.
