Redefining Learning: Breakdown of Challenges into Opportunities

in #hive-1538504 months ago

Hello everyone. Today I want to talk about learning. Do you know how sometimes we might feel like learning is hard? Well I thought it was time to share my own stories in learning and see what makes it so interesting and sometimes challenging for me. So lets dive right in!

Learning is the process by which someone acquires new knowledge or skills. It can also be said it is the transformation of information into meaningful understanding. It is a continuous and lifelong activity.Thats what learning can feel like sometimes. I believe that everyone has their own unique journey in learning.

One day I discovered a game called Slash Epics. It is a bit of a tricky game because it involves strategy and planning ahead. But for some reason I found myself winning so many games. The game involved placing pieces on a grid killing enemy towers and thinking several moves ahead. I loved it. Every move was a minichallenge. Looking back I realized that Slash epics was easy for me because I had some exp for seeing patterns and planning ahead. Plus I had played similar games before so I knew the basics. Most importantly I was genuinely interested in the game. When you love what youre doing it doesnt feel like work. The thing that made this experience stand out was how little time and effort it took for me to become good at this game. The key is finding what comes naturally to you and enjoying the process along the way.

While some learning experiences are easy others could feel a lil bit hard. What was somethign that was hard for me to learn?. Uhmmmmm 🤔 I think it was learning to code. Coding is beautiful but its also quite complex especially for someone who had never coded before. Coding requires understanding logics and having the patience to solve errors over and over again. At first I struggled with the basics too. My fingers wouldnt cooperate and the syntaxes seemed like a foreign language. I lacked the understanding of how code works. On top of that finding the time and resources to practice was challenging. To break these challenges I broke down my goals into smaller steps. I focused on learning one piece at a time and practiced daily even if it was just for a few minutes.

Over time I noticed improvements. My fingers began to move more fluidly across the keys and the code blocks started to make sense. There were moments when Id write some code and feel accomplishment. I was actually making progress! Eventually the learning became easier. Once I shifted my focus from the difficulty to the joy of creating softwares the challenges became so less overwhelming.

First lets compare the two learning experiences side by side.

Slash Epics
Coding
Easy due to my previous experience and strategic thinking.Hard due to requirement of patience, discipline and understanding of logic and syntax.
A game which are usually designed to be fun and engaging.A skill which takes years to master and require consistent practice and dedication.
I felt excited and motivated because of immediate progress.I felt like time has stopped because of being a slow and steady process with many setbacks.

These experiences have given me insights into my personal strengths and weaknesses. I discovered that I do good in environments where I can apply my strategic thinking and problemsolving skills. Games and puzzles are great for this. However I also learned that I need to push myself outside of my comfort zone to develop new skills like learning to code.

As we wrap up todays reflection on my learning journey I hope to inspire others to embrace their own learning journeys with open minds and hearts. I also invite you to the conversation. Personally, I think the easiest way to learn anything is for you to like something about it, it could be anything at all. Because just like you said, when you love what you're doing, it doesn't feel like work anymore.
