Embracing Flexibility: What Working from Home Did To Me

in #hive-153850last month

As a person who works from home, I can definitely relate to the importance of having the freedom to structure my day in a way that works best for me. I once worked from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The current job I am operating now gave me a new perspective on how there are different job patterns.

I am working two technical jobs from home, which provides me with a high level of flexibility. The fact that one of the companies is based in Nigeria and the other in the US allows me to effectively manage my time without the two schedules clashing. The one in Nigeria, I work as a technical writer and creative writer, but I am more focused on the technical aspect of that company. I also work with the social media department to make sure what they are writing is good to go.

The other job is a video editing job; since the job is very well structured, it allows me to schedule and fix the working hours for myself. The same working techniques that worked for me yesterday might not work for me today.

Since I am 5 hours ahead of my office, I get to finish up on time before closing our. We have tools like Jira, which makes assigning of tasks very easy.

Having the freedom to organize my tasks and responsibilities according to my preferences is incredibly empowering. It enables me to optimize my productivity, focus on other tasks like Hive, and allocate time for personal pursuits. Like today, after I was done with my work for the day, I went to the market to get things I would use to make dinner, and it was just 3 pm. I could never do that in a 9-5 job.

The flexibility in my work life not only enhances my efficiency but also gives me the chance to make decisions that align with my goals and priorities.

While some people may thrive in a structured work environment, I find that the flexibility in my job arrangement suits my lifestyle and preferences perfectly. Being able to work remotely and manage my time effectively has been a game-changer for me, allowing me to juggle multiple responsibilities while maintaining a sense of control and fulfillment in my work.

Do I like how things are?

Yes, I like it. I was never the outgoing type; unless friends are involved or there is something important, I am meant to do at the location, I would just prefer to stay in my house and take an evening stroll. Sometimes I just go to the mail to get bread or chips just to clear my head while I am working, and there is no one to stop me.

The fact is, every job has its advantages and disadvantages. So, whether you prefer a fixed routine or thrive in a flexible work setting like mine, it's essential to find a balance that works best for you and enables you to achieve your professional and personal objectives effectively.
