Taking a trip to the clinic to know what's going on in our body shouldn't be a problem, but the nonchalant attitudes of health officials can drive one crazy. We all know having a healthy lifestyle is the best even when you are not wealthy. The health officials are not making it worthwhile. I hate visiting the hospital for any reason.
However, It is a bit challenging to take yourself for checkups in this part of the world because The process often feels exhausting due to the attitudes of some nurses and doctors. Many people don't like visiting the hospital, especially when they're not feeling well, let alone for routine checkups. We all understand the importance of maintaining a healthy life through regular medical evaluations, but unfortunately, our healthcare system does not make it easy, I'm talking about my country because I don't know about others. It is very sad!
Personally, I have had several frustrating experiences with hospitals. There seems to be a rampant thing among certain health workers, especially the government hospitals. It often feels like they just don’t care. For instance, there was a time when my neighbor was gravely ill, unable to lift her body, and on the brink of death. I rushed her to the hospital, expecting immediate attention, but to my shock, she was left unattended on a stretcher. It was only when I started shouting and threatening to sue for negligence should she die that they finally responded to her urgent needs. The delay she experienced was inexcusable.
Another heartbreaking incident involved my baby, who was having a convulsion. I rushed her to the hospital wearing just a singlet, desperate for help. When I arrived, the doctor on duty didn’t even examine her; instead, I was told to get medicines or wait for another doctor who was supposedly on the way. Hmm! Get these medicines for a baby under one year just like that without conducting a test? My panic escalated, and I began to shout louder and louder until a nurse finally took action. She recognized the urgency of the situation and provided first aid, and only then did the doctor see my daughter. As a result, she was admitted for five days. This experience pointed to the negligence displayed by some healthcare professionals.

The waiting alone can be frustrating!
Given these experiences, I struggle to visit a hospital for any checkup. The prospect of spending hours just to see a doctor, only to feel that the visit was futile, is disheartening. If we could regularly monitor our health from the comfort of our homes, I’m sure many would prefer that option. As the saying goes, "Health is wealth." Thankfully, tools like blood pressure monitors and sugar level testing kits have become more accessible and affordable, making life easier for those of us who care about our health.
If you ask me again, I will still say No to hospital visits, what I don't know cannot kill me.
