Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog, I want to use this medium to appreciate everyone that had taken out time to put up the #NewbieInitiative, I am really grateful for the opportunity to be selected.
What is the importance of setting goals and why do you need to do them for this initiative?
Goal setting is very important to both personal and professional growth and development, if you must move to the the next level, then you must set realistic goals and work towards attaining them.
Goals help give us direction and focus while pursuing our dreams and ambitions, they help you prioritize what needs to be prioritized, and help prevent you from becoming overwhelmed. They are the motivation we need to keep pushing and also help us track our progress. The importance of goal setting cannot be overemphasized.
For the short while, I have been on Hive, I haven’t been very intentional about my Hive journey, there are some days when I’ll get all pumped up after a pep talk from a fellow Hivean about why I should take Hive seriously, and for the next couple of days I’ll try to level up, then before you know it I’m back to almost square one.
Then Inleo came up with a daily prompt, more like a prompt calender for each month, there were days I was very motivated by the curations I was getting, and there were days I was like, I’m tired I can’t kill myself 😃
I haven’t really had to sit down and think deeply about Hive and how far I could get if I actually be intentional and make goals with the intention to see it through, make goals that are SMART, no not really I haven’t done that. Not until recently I had the opportunity to apply for the #NewbiesInitiative that just kicked off, and Boom!!! our first task is to make a post stating our Hive goals for the next two months.
What makes a goal SMART?
Making or setting goals can be a bit dicey, traditionally before now, what I and I believe most people termed to be goal setting just involved writing down a list of things we intend to achieve, and boom we go about trying to achieve them without any clear parameters on how we intend doing that.
But I've come to discover that when setting goals, you don't just begin to write down a bunch of unrealistic goals, but goals that are SMART that is they must be Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time bound. This helps you adequately keep track of your progress in attaining set goals.
What are your goals as regards your Hive power, your followers, your engagement, your consistency, and any other goals as a newbie here on Hive?
I intend to grow my Hive power to 500HP, within the next two months, as I have a total of 235HP presently, I intend doing this by making a minimum of five (5) posts every week, making engaging comments on the posts of other Hiveans, responding to comments as often as I get them each day.
I intend increasing my participation in various weekly community contests and tasks that align with my personality and also to ensure that my presence is felt and to gain visibility. I intend to do all of these consistently for the next 2 months and beyond.
What makes these goals SMART is the fact that they're specific, not ambiguous or vague, they are measurable, attainable if I'm consistent with what I have set for myself, they're realistic, it's something that is doable and can be achieved, and there's a timeframe attached which is 2months. So yeah, I think my goals are SMART.
Strategies to Achieve my Hive Goals.
I will create a consistent posting and content calendar to enable me create more quality content and engage more with my audience. This will help me to always be on the top of my game and always have something to post as I would already have a calendar and not just wake up and begin to think of what to post that day.
Find a way to balance my offline life with my online presence, this I'll do by setting out approximately 4 hours out of the 24 hours I have in a day, these hours will be broken as follows, 1hour in the morning to make a draft of what I intend doing for the day using my already developed content calendar, the next 2 hours will be by noon when I'll make final touches to the days content and put it up, the last 1 hour will be dedicated to engaging on Hive.
I will also power up as much as I can to increase my hive power and also curate as much as possible to increase my voting power.
I will also try to connect with other Hiveans both on the blockchain and out of the blockchain, creating lasting relationships when I can.
These and many more I hope to achieve by the end of two months, I hope that I am able to achieve them by God's grace and also by my intentionality to do things differently than I have been doing.
Thank you for stopping by, feel free to put in your suggestions on how to better achieve my goals❤
