Happy Boxing Day to you all, I hope you all had fun yesterday and are still having; why not? It's the holidays, and we should make the most of it right?

Christmas is a period of joy, merriment, and celebration; it's a time for gifting people and making yourself and others feel special; it's a time to spread love and joy to those around you. It's also a time when you get to spend time with your loved ones doing things you all love, like keeping up a family tradition or something else.

During the all of these celebrations and decorations, funds have to be spent, and if one isn’t careful it is very easy to overspend and run into debt by the time the new year comes rolling in.

With a little planning, budgeting, and creativity, you can get to make the most of the holiday period while enjoying yourself and not hurting your account balance.

Here are some methods I have used that have worked out for me that can also be put into consideration when planning for the festivities.

Setting a Realistic Budget

I added the word realistic for a purpose because most of us set budgets that are not realistic, and that alone kills the whole idea of budgeting. Make a list of all that will be needed for the festive period and include an estimated amount for it to have something tangible to work it. Also make sure to create room for unexpected expenses, but it shouldn't take up so much as there’d be many of them regardless of how well-structured your budget is.

Shop Early

Ensure that you do your shopping on time to, make sure you do not wait until the last minute before you go shopping because most times things become more expensive during the festive period. This might be a bit challenging sometimes as the moves might not be available to ship early but if the money is available by all means go do your shopping on time.

Shopping early will prevent you from making bad decisions, and it can also help you spread the spending cost across months and not overspend.

Make Do of Discounts and Sales

During the month preceding the festive periods, most stores offer discounts for their products, ensure that you make use of the discounts, as it would reduce how much you have to spend on such products. In a bid to buy for less, please do not be tempted to buy more than you need, as that would defeat the aim of the whole celebration on a budget and not overspending.

Planning For the Next Year

It doesn't also hurt to take out some time to plan for the next year, in order to have a smooth year. You could plan for your finances, how to increase your sources of income and your networks, and also how to improve yourself in general so that you become a better version of yourself.

I hope these few tips help someone out there to make better choices when it comes to Christmas celebrations so as not to be financially stressed by the time January of the next year comes rolling in.

If you have some more helpful tips, kindly share them in the comment section so we all can learn and have better Christmas celebration experiences.
Have an awesome new year in advance.

From the start of December, I already locked a certain amount of money so I won't be able to to spend it and so whatever money comes afterward is literally for the celebration and if not enough i hold my peace.

I think this is also a good strategy. Merry Christmas to you sis 🌲

Indeed it is.

Thank you and wish you same sis. 😊
