The newbie's initiative has finally kicked off, and I couldn't be more thrilled. As part of our first task, we were instructed to find a partner, and I teamed up with a fellow member named @lizizoo. She was just as excited as I was, especially because she had some questions regarding the topic of discussion: GOALS.
My partner's contribution
After having a conversation about our individual goals, Lizizoo made a suggestion that really resonated with me. She believed that in order for us to achieve our objectives, we need to increase our engagement on Hive and maintain consistency. Lizizoo expressed curiosity about the monthly dreemport treasure hunt. It's an exciting event where participants have the chance to win rewards such as HBD, ecency points, HBI, Dreem tokens, and more. She wanted to know how engagement played a role in earning a slot in the treasure hunt and in what ways it can help to attain her goals.
My contribution
I took the time to explain to her how being consistent had propelled me beyond my initial goals. I also opened up about my personal struggle with procrastination, both on Hive and in other aspects of my life. Furthermore, I helped her understand the workings of dreemport, emphasizing the importance of daily curation, submitting posts regularly, and participating in the weekly challenges.
The meeting
Last Sunday, being the 1st of October, we had our first newbies initiative meeting which was hosted by @starstrings01 in collaboration with the appointed team leaders and the participants. The main topic of discussion was GOALS, and it turned out to be quite an eye-opening experience. It shed light on why many of us have failed to achieve our goals in the past, including myself. I finally understood why my New Year's resolution goals always ended up unfulfilled. The key takeaways from the meeting were simple yet profound: in order to succeed, it is crucial to write down our goals, break them down into manageable steps, track our progress, and adjust them as needed.
I also learned about the concept of setting smart goals. These are goals that are specific, measurable, attainable, relatable, and time-bound. Looking back, I realized that my New Year's resolutions often fell short because they lacked clarity and specificity. I didn't follow through with them, nor did I take the time to review my progress. Procrastination became my constant companion, hindering any chance of success. It became clear that without an action plan in place, achieving my goals was merely a wishful thinking exercise.
One particular statement from the speaker, @starstrings01, stood out to me during the meeting. She urged us to be hungry for our goals. This was a perspective I had never considered before, but it made perfect sense. When you're hungry for something, you are driven to work hard and strive for it, much like satisfying a physical hunger.
I recognized that my initial hive goals were based on outdated knowledge. However, armed with newfound insights, I decided to adopt a SMARTER approach to goal-setting.
My long-term goals on Hive Power (HP)
I initially aimed to reach 500 HP. But now, with the strategies shared in the meeting, I believe I can achieve even more. Therefore, I have revised my goal to 600 HP. Presently, my HP stands at 341.237, acknowledging that each individual's journey varies based on their processes and efforts.

short-term goals
I analysed my past three months' progress using hivestats. Considering what I did to accumulate 91.5 HP within the period of 30 days, I am confident that I can do even better. As a result, I set a goal of 100 HP in the next 30 days, leveraging the new strategies and efforts I will be implementing.
Followers
I understand that I cannot force people to follow me. However, I believe that by consistently offering valuable content, I can attract followers. Therefore, my goal is to gain 80 followers by the end of the year, as I know this is achievable within the next three months.
Reputation
Lastly, my current reputation stands at 62. To steadily increase it, I aim to reach a reputation of 65 before the year concludes. With reputation being influenced by the number of upvotes received, this goal equates to one reputation per month.
Consistent
In my journey towards achieving my goals, I have recognized the importance of consistency. To make progress on Hive, I have made a commitment to be active and stay updated on the latest happenings in the community. Engaging with other users by participating in community activities and attempting prompts has become a regular part of my routine. Since September 1st, I have successfully posted at least one high-quality post every day, and it has now become a hobby that I am accustomed to. Additionally, I aim to curate a minimum of 10 posts daily, as this helps boost my engagement on Hive.
Hive power up
I will consistently power up at least 10 hives every month. I considered powering up at least 5 hives weekly. I got this idea from @merit.ahama who has been consistent with daily power ups.
Breakdown goals
To ensure my goals stay at the forefront of my mind, I have taken the approach of writing them down every day. Breaking down my bigger goal into smaller chunks has been instrumental in maintaining focus and progress. I have divided my goal into different time frames: year, month, week, and day.
My target for the year is to accumulate 600 Hive Power (Hp), which is further broken down into 100 Hp per month, 30 Hp per week, and 3 Hp per day.
My turning point
Recognizing the rising popularity of vlogging in the world of social media, particularly within the blogging community, I have devised a vlog strategy. Through the guidance of the newbies initiative, which will provide insights on video uploading and related skills, I plan to diversify my content by incorporating cooking recipes, DIY projects, needlework tutorials, and other creative endeavours alongside my writing. This strategy will allow me to tap into my creativity even when I face writer's block or cannot connect with a specific prompt or topic.
