In my last post, I did explain some interesting facts about temperament and I had promised to give hivians a full dose of the topic which is why I’m making this post. Apparently, we have four basic temperament which I took time to explain two of them in my last post, here are the remaining two basic temperament.
- Melancholy Temperament: This Temperament is richly endowed, they have a very high Intelligent Quotient (IQ), they are mostly found in the creative industry, example are musicians, artists, etc. They are well known for their creativity. A melancholy personality has the ability to think outside the box, a genius, an inventor they can analysis complex phenomenon. In terms of strength; they are very reliable and selfless can trust them with your secrets, they value friendship and are good listeners. While their weakness is that they always think of negative outcomes, always worried and they don't believe in a perfect world as such they always expect that bad things are going to happen, I have one of my relatives that would call immediately anything happens in my area, she would be like "where are you? Why are you not back home yet, haven’t u heard of what is going on? Especially during the "EndSars protest". They always have this dark cloud around them, a little time they switch into sadness, Easily brokenhearted and depressed, not emotionally strong, highly introvert. However, they are easily attracted to sanguine personality. Lastly, let's look at the sanguine Temperament.
- Sanguine Temperament: This personality are very unique people loved by almost all other Temperament; they are very good story tellers. They can gist, entertain, motivate and arouse feeling of excitement. Their strength lies in the ability to enjoy themselves and feel relaxed even in trying times, they are fun loving, they response to people's emotions and problems, very compassionate and friendly. If they are around you, they make you feel loved and happy, they work as doctors and nurse, very good marketers, very jovial and playful, they are fun to be with, very enthusiastic and optimistic. They can gist you till you forget your sorrow, it's good to have them around, they are extrovert and can easily adapt to any new environment they find themselves.
Lastly their weakness; they are fond of exaggerating, most times they bend the truth for people to really belief their story, they can't keep secret because they talk too much, they like eating too much and they are not decisive. They laugh uncontrollably but on the other hand they explode into anger when offended.
In conclusion, the different Temperament are very unique in their own nature, the best way to look at them is to see them as moods... Happy mood (sanguine), serious mood (choleric), sad mood(melancholy) and dull mood(phlegmatic). It's possible for one person to possess two or three of this Temperament, whatever maybe the case the knowledge of it is very crucial in creating a good network of people. Most times parent try to compare their children with other children around and compel them to behave like other children unknown to them that everyone operates on their own frequency. This topic has really helped me in relating with different people and my friends. It is pertinent for us having been acquainted with these ideas to capitalize on our strength while finding ways to bring our weakness under control so as to make life easy and worth-living for us and people around us. Inability to understand the other person's temperament is one of the factors bedeviling the success and growth of some relationships and marriages which eventually leads to divorce.
