Hello friends, Happy new week. It feels good to participate in the weekly prompt of @hivelearners community after a while of blogging. It has been a hectic period but I thank God who has been helping me through it.
Over Familiarity has killed many businesses today on both sides. If the customer is your friend you don't regard them as you would do to a stranger and if the seller is your friend you take something on debt or free knowing fully well that to a stranger you must pay.
A friend of mine on his Whatsapp status complained about this last week. He is an MC ( master of ceremony). He hosts events here in my school, weddings too and he is very good at his job. He talked about him doing free services for his friends and when they say No, they see him as a bad person and hire a stranger who they will pay higher. He complained bitterly why friends can't hire and pay him even half but will pay a stranger a very good amount of money for something he can do better.
Okay on this yeah....I have never mixed business with love, family, friends or partner. I don't have to even have that experience because stories from people who have, it doesn't end well. Even when it comes to money, people have lost long term friendships or relationships because they borrowed their friend money and the friend couldn't return it as promised. To me, I only give out money that I know I can afford to lose, you can call it spare money if you wish. People don't always return the same energy they give when asking.
Making a business decision based on sentiment is not good for business and could be very disastrous. As the saying goes " you cannot serve two masters at the same time" or " two kings cannot sit on one throne".
Now "low and business" are two strict terms Bothell requires attention and time to stand and combining the two would likely break you down or make you lose the two at both times if it didn't turn out well.
Another instance is when your family or partner is complaining of you staying away from home for business and you decide to stay back you might probably have workers but they won't have a business idea like you. Another one is giving out your services for free or giving out what you sell as borrow. In no time you can't calculate your capital and profit so you can restock and then the business fails. Business should stand as business and not to be played with. Every time spent for your expenses and profit should be carefully written down and traced.
Expect to be called a bad person by friends or family for not helping by borrowing them but you need to stay on your stand. I think only selfish people will see you like that, a good friend should be able to help and support you in your business and not bring it's downfall.
Am not saying you shouldn't help your family or give them credit , you can if you are sure they will say at least everyone should be given the benefit of doubt but in no instance should you continue piling up debt.
Thank you for the reading
