It's been a while since I participated in any topic posted in the Hive learner community, which I, as a member of the community, love to participate in any topic posted for the weekly engagement.
FARMING AND TECHNOLOGY
This topic will detail how technology helps farming and its effect on individual consumption hazards. Normally, when we are talking about technology, it is very wide and has more advantages than disadvantages. The advantages of technology to farming are immense. Modern farms and agricultural operations work far differently than those a few decades ago, primarily because of advancements in technology, including sensors, devices, machines, and information technology. Today’s agriculture routinely uses sophisticated technologies such as robots, temperature and moisture sensors, aerial images, and GPS technology. These advanced devices and precision agriculture and robotic systems allow businesses to be more profitable, efficient, safer, and more environmentally friendly. Applying water, fertiliser, and herbicides consistently throughout entire fields is no longer required of farmers. They can target very specific locations and use the very minimum of supplies needed, or they can even treat individual plants differently. Some advantages are: Greater yields from crops Using less water, fertiliser, and pesticides helps to keep food costs low. Diminished influence on natural ecosystems fewer chemicals flowing into rivers and groundwater A higher level of worker safety.
SCIENCE
Science has significantly improved food production by increasing yield and reducing hunger; potential downsides include environmental damage from chemical overuse, potential health concerns from genetically modified organisms (GMOs), reduced nutritional taste in processed foods, overreliance on technology, ethical concerns about animal welfare in intensive farming, and the dominance of large corporations in the food market, leading to issues like reduced biodiversity and potential disruptions to local food systems. Modern food technology can improve food production and preservation in many ways, but some aspects of it can reduce nutritional value and overall health benefits, especially when it comes to highly processed foods, which frequently use methods that remove vital nutrients to improve texture, flavour, and shelf life.

Technology can improve food production and preservation in many ways; certain aspects of modern food technology can lead to a decrease in nutritional value and overall health benefits, particularly when it comes to highly processed foods, which often involve techniques that strip away essential nutrients to enhance shelf life, texture, and flavour. Our food systems are failing us and the planet; they are not effectively feeding or nourishing us. Unhealthy food is the leading cause of non-communicable diseases worldwide, and under-nutrition continues to be a substantial issue in many parts of the world. Simultaneously, our food systems are failing the planet. Food production is the single biggest driver of multiple environmental pressures, including biodiversity loss, soil degradation, and pollution of rivers and oceans. The food system also contributes 20-30% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Humanity faces the grand challenge of reconfiguring food systems to deliver healthy diets that are accessible to all people while safeguarding planetary health.
