Every sports were made in a way that they are all unique and fun to different people because of their mode of play. No matter how dangerous one sport might be, you will always see persons who enjoy it even more than any other sports you can think of that is not ‘dangerous’. For some contact sports, a lot of persons find it dangerous and they wish that it could be less dangerous. Well, I’m not sure but I don’t think those games would remain as fun to those who watch and play them if some things are regulated in them.
For example, imagine the game of boxing have a regulation that players shouldn’t punch their opponents on the face, nah, it just won’t work. I believe that these games are only going to be fun because of these things but then, those who discovered these games have also seen the dangers in them and I believe that is one major reason why most of these contact games have referees. If we take a close look at the roles of referees, we will get to understand that they are always watching out for those extra dangerous players so as to avoid anyone getting too hurt (getting hurt is sometimes inevitable).
Depending on how dangerous a player might be, that player can be suspended from the game for a while to give them time to learn from their mistakes. For a game like football, it is so unlikely that someone won’t get hurt because they are always on the motion. It is a game that requires active participation from all players so accidents are bound to happen but then when it becomes too much, I believe the referees do their best to regulate this as much as they can.
Like I have already said, most of these games are already regulated as they are. The problem now, is the fact that some players involved are just bad players and they are not willing to play by the rules and for this reason, we can’t really blame the mode of playing these games, because humans can be really hard to deal with sometimes. So if there is any way that these games can be regulated even more, it should be in the aspect of hiring people that can play by the rules to a considerable extent and for the referees to be more watchful.
I believe if that can be done, it will help to an extent but if it stays the way it is now, it is also fine because I believe it is only those who want to play those game and watch them that you see around more. Even if other people do, it is rare to force someone into any sports, they most times have to be interested in it first. The bottom line is, these sports are not for the weak or faint at heart, so if anyone likes them or is involved in them, it means they are ready for the packages that comes with it.
I have heard of cases when some persons stop participating in some sports because they feel it is too dangerous and I have also seen others willingly going into it because they are willing to take the risks because it is something they enjoy doing. One more thing, in regulating these contact sports, I believe it should be based on individual preferences. Parents and guardians shouldn’t try to encourage their children into sports like this if they are not willing just because of the huge pay, it should be strictly based on personal interest.
This is my recommendation because that way, no one can blame anyone if anything was to go wrong because it was a choice made by the individual themselves.
