As humans, we always enjoy making things difficult for ourselves, we make things seem harder even when in the real sense it isn’t at all. Indeed working smart pays more than working hard. A lot of times we think it’s by how much strength we have or by how much we can do that we get better results but that is most times not how it works. Let’s take for instance, when you are given a job of assembling a thousand chairs together to be paid a certain amount of money, most times, the way we approach this is by doing the job on our own.
Meanwhile, we can look for others to help us assemble those chairs and from what we get paid, we can share some with them. Here is the thing, I know you might want the money all to yourself maybe for a specific purpose, but then that is not always the best option because, trying to do all that job by yourself, it will take you a lot of time and effort. And it might also hinder you from even getting other things done. But when you look for more hands to help you do that same job, you will save yourself the stress of getting exhausted and you will also save yourself more time.
Too bad, in the educational system, students are taught to put in just hard work and not teamwork. But I tell you, in the real world, there is need for more of teamwork and then less of hard work and that is what gives us smart work. The curriculum used in our various schools has almost been that way for as long as we can remember but then there has been a lot of changes in the real word especially when it comes to technology upgrades.
Before now, we didn’t need calculators to solve a math problem, we just make our brains do all the work and it was and it’s still cool. But then, in our today’s world, we make use of calculators for more accurate calculations. In the real world, no one will be mad at you if you made use of a calculator to sum up numbers but then, in schools, students are compared to use their brains for everything. Well, this is good, really good but then, we must also understand that everyone doesn’t have the same brain capability.
In fact, there are some children that are born with some brain syndromes that causes them to do way better than normal. In cases like this, these children even at a very young age can give answers to some questions that even some adults can’t understand not to say give an answer. Likewise, there are children that struggle in some aspects to understand some things they are being taught. They always find it hard to remember things they are taught and they end up doing poorly in their tests and exams.
The major suggestion I would love to give to our educational system is to know their students capacities and help them become the best in what they can do that is helpful to both themselves and the society. No matter how poor a student is going academically, there is always one or two other things they are good at. Personally, I always struggle with reading any academic related books but I can read something that isn’t necessarily for me to pass an exam.
I do better when it comes to practical related things but when it comes to theory, it’s a different ball game entirely. Unlike me, there are some persons that are very good when it comes to theories. And also there are some that need both before they can fully comprehend what they are being taught. Knowing this, I think the educational system can look more closer to what can help every student learn better than just using only one style of learning for everyone.
This is the much I have to say and I really do hope that the educational system will work on improving on their system of operations to help bring the best out of every individual. This is my response to the topic on ”A SMART STUDENT”.
