My Encounter With Disciplining Myself
Learning to abide by something is not really easy especially something good. Everyday of our lives we are faced with different choices and in choosing the right choices most times, we have to apply SELF DISCIPLINE. The importance of being self discipline is what we will only understand when we put it into ACTION.
We all in one way or another have exercised self discipline and me speaking on it, made me remember a post from Starstrings titled PROUD OF FOLLOWING THE PATH OF DISCIPLINE AND Respect and in this post, he explained how he exercised self discipline on how he got himself what he wanted.
Right from a young age, I knew I had to sacrifice to gain what I want and not pass through the easy route.
The above words were gotten from his post. I highlighted this part because it is the bottom line of being self disciplined. At a young age, he already knew that nothing good comes easy and we have to make sacrifices for what we know we truly need. Being self disciplined involves making lots of sacrifices and it's never easy trust me, I've been there some few times and it was not funny at all but it was FUN 😁.
My moment Of Self Discipline
Last year, I was privileged to live with a family, but after some time all the children had to return back to school and I was the only one remaining with their parents. I was there willingly, leaving my brother and Dad at home even when I know they needed me but I knew this family needed my help too, I had to stay with them, to assist them so they won't have to stress themselves too much since they are no longer getting young and I loved them too (the family).
The mother had a shop where I also help her sell and the shop is close to a school so I had to wake up early to go to the shop because we believe that was the best time to sell more. When the traffic has reduced, I will later go to the house to prepare lunch as the shop is not far from the house. I also assisted my brother who does laundry too, that was how I learned how to fun a laundry business.
For almost a year, that was how my life was and it was not easy at all but I had to sacrifice so many things because I knew they needed my help. There were times when I close late from the shop and I still had to prepare dinner and after all, I will sleep really late and wake up early the next day.
Living with that family taught me a lot of things and what was most surprising was that I didn't have any issues with them all through my stay there, they took care of me like their own child and they always gave me support whenever I ask from them. I did so many things that were out of my will just to make everyone happy and comfortable and I will tell you that it was all worth it.
What I had to sacrifice
I was separated from my brother for a long time, he was my best Buddy but I had to leave him.
I had to sacrifice my own happiness sometimes to make others happy.
I had to go hungry sometimes because I couldn't prepare anything to eat since I was running late to the shop.
It cost me my health few times but God was always there not to make me fall sick for long but I had lots of pains but I still had to smile.
Lessons I learned
You have to make sacrifices for what you really need. In the end of my stay with them, they and their children were really grateful and that's something really special to me.
Finding happiness in whatever I did made every hardship bearable.
I learned how to be consistent in doing good. As each day passed by, I became more better than the previous day.
I learnt how to accept my mistakes and take due corrections. Living with that family, I made some mistakes and I was always corrected. I made sure to always try my best not to be a victim of such mistakes again and I'm sure that was why I was able to live with them for sure a long time.
In all, I learnt how to be myself no matter what.
Self-discipline requires us loving ourselves dearly so we could make sacrifices that will help us tomorrow even if we have to suffer today.
