Hello beautiful Hivians and friends...
Image was designed by @projectmamabg
It's been five months now since I've been part of the newbies initiative and for this five months, I've received so much support and love from both the the newbies founder, team and even my fellow newbies and it has made my journey here so beautiful and memorable. I remember I joined hive December last year and I got to know about the newbies initiative through my sister who advised me to try and apply for the initiative. At some point I almost took it for granted but then I challenged myself not to give up without even trying because the application was already closing.
- Task one
I took the bold step and I was so happy when I saw a post that confirmed that I made it to be a part of the newbies initiative. We were given different lectures on different topics and after each lesson, we were asked to give a summary of why we understood from it. The first lesson we received was from @starstrings01 where he taught us on how to make smart goals and thereafter, we were asked to set smart goals for ourselves even as we start our journey on Hive.
- Task 2
The next lecture we received was also from @starstrings01, he taught us how to use markdowns on our writeups to make it look presentable. It was one of the best things for me because I was so overwhelmed at how I put some symbols at some point of my writings and it appears very beautiful, it was really impressive for me.
- TASK 3
We also were given a lecture on Hive keys and security and in this tutorial, we were made to understand the use of the different keys and how important they are to us. We were also taught how we can recover our keys if we ever loose them and also how to change our recovery account and many more.
- TASK 4
The next task we were given was about the different Dapps that are present on the hive blockchain. After receiving this lecture I was able to realize that we have more than just Peakd, Leofinance and Ecency front-ends, there are others but my best now is Ecency and Peakd.
- TASK 5
Moving forward, we were given another tutorial on tags and tribe tokens. I got to understand that some communities on Hive has its own tribe tokens which they use to support their members and others who make use of their tags. It was not so new to me then but I also learned how to convert them to hive through the Hive engine and its all thanks to @samostically.
- TASK 6
The last tutorial we received was on blockchain games with more emphasis on splinterlands games. In this tutorial we were made to understand that we have different games that are built on the Hive blockchain and how we can play them for fun and also earn in the process. We were further taught how the splinterlands game works and how to play as well.
So above was just a brief overview of what we as the newbies part of the newbies initiative benefitted from it.
What do you think about the newbies initiative and how has it been beneficial?
From the above summary I gave, you already know that this user has benefitted so much from the newbies initiative. I think the Newbies Initiative is a life saver, a good place for anyone (whether or not you are a newbie) to learn. I think the Newbies initiative is a home we're newbies on Hive can find solace. I was just barely two months old when I go to join the newbies Hive and I felt comfortable with so many things because I knew I had support from the Newbies initiative.
The Newbies initiative has been beneficial to me in the aspect of giving out quality contents, acquiring more knowledge of how the Hive blockchain works and also growth. I might have still be struggling to understand some things about Hive but the newbies initiative has changed that for me.
How has the task given been helpful?
The task given were seven in total including this post and I only attempted 6 (this included) of them because I was not sure of how to go about the fourth task, I was nervous and I couldn't participate in it. But despite the fact that I didn't do the task, I still learned from it, very well. Because of the task given, I can strive here on Hive with ease, I even assist others now in answering some of their questions and it's all because of these tutorials and task that were given.
What needs to be improved on and how can it be done?
Well, I will say this question is a question that is only asked by those who want to grow and be better and I'm so happy to see this question. There are some certain things I observed about the initiative and the people that were chosen.
Out of all the Newbies that were selected, more than half of them did not participate in the task and that's not something of good report at all. I think the way to tackle this problem is to eliminate newbies as the task go on. In every task given, any Newbie that fails to participate for no reason (without permission) should be eliminated from the Newbies Initiative and that way it will make other Newbies more serious of the task that is before them.
There should be someone who cross check the task given to the Newbies to tell them how well or how poorly they performed. What I mean is, this is kind of a school for Newbies to grow, so it's just right that when the students are given work to do, they should also be assessed by the teachers and also necessary corrections should be given as well.
- The support given to Newbies, sometimes I feel it's not based on merit but on luck, well it's not really bad like that but I think it's wise to give more support to those that did really well at every task, that way it will make others want to do better next time. And based on this, there should be guidelines on how to attain that, it can be through engagement, length and quality of the post and the time which the task was given.
Well, these are just some few things I can pen down that I think if implemented, it will make the Newbies initiative have some really good standards and it will be treated with respect and diligence.
Show us a recount of your goals and how far you have come through.
MY HIVE POWER
In the first task that was given to us, we were asked to set a smart goal and I did mine. First of all I talked on my Hive power (hp) I set the target of hitting 150 hp by the end of three months and to my greatest surprise, I hit almost more than that even before the end of three months.
Here's a screenshot of my Hive power five months ago.
Here's a screenshot of my Hp even before the three months was over.
Here's a screenshot of the post I've made even before three months and I actually made 101 post by the end of three months.
MY POSTS/COMMENTS
Here's also a screenshot of the comments I've made at the end of three months.

SPECIAL APPRECIATION TO THE NEWBIES INITIATIVE
This initiative has added to my growth in so many ways that I can't even say and I will want to specially appreciate the people behind this beautiful initiative. I'm not really sure of all the people that have made this initiative stand but I do know of the founder who is no other person but @starstrings01, he has been a great mentor and a great motivation to so many of us Newbies.
I also want to thank @theycallmedan, @aliento and the trail, they've been so supportive in the aspect of Upvotes and it really helped me in achieving my goals too. I always feel so happy and grateful whenever I saw a notification from them and that has always made me put in more effort to making good posts so I can show more appreciation to their support. And also a big thank you to @projectmamabg for the beautiful badge she designed for this initiative. And others that I did not mention, thank you for your support 🙏.
Indeed you guys have added value to me in ways that I never even imagined and I'm so thankful to you all. And as a part of #leadingwithgenerosity initiated by @unklebonehead, I will was to set 75% beneficiary to @starstrings01 for his continuous support, I know it might be little but please just see it as a little something for all you do. And I will also want to set the remaining 25% beneficiary to @ksam for guessing the date of my Birthday right, his guess was 25th of this month and that was a correct guess.
