For me, I will say the easiest way we can find our purpose on earth is by knowing who made us and why he has made us. Too bad, some persons don’t know or have refused to accept that there is a supreme being who has brought us all into existence. Well, I’m not here to convince anyone about that because you already know who he is, you only just do not want to acknowledge him.
Whenever I want to talk about our purpose as humans, removing God from the picture makes it feels hard for me to give an answer because it’s just like me talking about a poem and choosing to leave out the author of that poem and his biography. I’m not a book person but from the little I know, if you really want to give a good analysis of a poem, you have to have a good knowledge of the poet and if possible his environment at the time of writing that poem because that is what will guide you in making a good assumption of what the poem is about.
Likewise too, as humans, the people who were created, it is only right for us to know why we exist and also, who created us because that basically forms our reason for existing in the first place. Most times, we’ve been so fed up by all the talk about God that we just choose to just prove to whoever, that we can do it all on our own, hehe. God has created each person for a reason and in his infinite wisdom that no one can truly comprehend, he gave us the free will to choose what ever we want to do. But then, he still hopes that we choose to do what he has created us for because he knows it’s for our good.
I am not here to tell anyone what their purpose here on earth is (I’m definitely going to mention it but it’s totally up to you to accept it or not) but this much I can tell you, you can only find your purpose when you know the reason why God has created you. So if you are doing something right now that is not even related to your creator, it means you have drifted really far away but then you still have the opportunity to come back because you still have life. So today ask yourself, if I ever get to create something, will I just create it and leave it to function on its own without creating a guide or a manual or even saying how it should work?
If you can answer that question without prejudice, then you will know that God has done the same for us too and he gave us a guide which we can find in the book of which he had inspired men to write down, which is the Holy Bible. So if you want to know more about God, that is the book you want to read to get answers. God loves us so much that he knew that finding our purpose will get harder for some of us if not all of us, so he left a guide for us, but then, we can’t benefit from it if we don’t read it and believe it.
Moving to the question, Is our purpose simply to make enough money just so we can live the kind of life we want? Well, this is easy to give a response to if you truly read the previous paragraphs. Money is something that is good and even the Bible made is to understand that money answers all things but then, the Bible also made us understand that the love of money is the root of all evil. In as much as we all need money to live a good life, that is not our basic purpose on earth. Our basic purpose on earth as humans is to be answerable to the one who has made us because our lives are in his hands and he can take it whenever he pleases.
Just like this story, there was a man who was really wealthy, God blessed him abundantly and his farm produce flourished even beyond what he expected. This man was so happy with himself and he broke down his barns and built a bigger one to accommodate his harvest. He gave himself all the credit and God was not pleased with him and God took his life. All his harvest later went to the people of the city he lived in. This man’s purpose would have been to help those in need around him hence God blessed him abundantly but then, he failed to recognize that and he chose to enjoy everything by himself.
So, having money, doing well for yourself is a good thing but don’t live your life like you made it all happen by your own power because you didn’t. Our purpose on earth should be one that reflects our creator. Anything we are doing should be the one that will make our creator proud of us because it is only then he will delight in making us a better version of ourselves just like in the iPhone industry or any other production industry you can think of.
