It's easy to lose assets in the digital world

We are living in a developed world, and we call it the digital world where technological development is impressive and seems like magic. For many people, it’s like a dream. Every device has gone from analog to digital now, and there is internet connectivity for smoother and better performance. The invention of internet connectivity is revolutionary and without internet connectivity it’s impossible to think about a digital world.

In this digital world most of the tasks are related to the virtual world and technology is trying to make it safe for us. Everything comes with advantages and disadvantages and that’s the harsh reality. Although technology trying to secure everything but it itself is a threat for us. Cybercrime is an example of it and with time cybercrime is increasing rapidly. A single click is powerful enough to be a victim on cybercrime.

Sometimes we make mistakes and sometimes we leave some loopholes for the hacker that helps to take access to our devices, and we became a victim of it. Phishing sites and installing unauthorized software are the most common reasons for becoming the victim of hackers. In my case I am always concerned about not to be a victim and because of my awareness I never faced any issues related to cyber security till now and I don’t want to face it.

Some beloved people of mine faced cyber security issues several times and I think it was ok with them because they were careless about their virtual identity, and it was quite natural but none of them face any significant loss any time as much as I can remember but a freelancer suffered huge loss a few months ago who lives nearby place of mine. I didn’t know about his identity before he suffered the huge loss, and I am sharing about it.

By profession he was a freelancer, and he was earning good from there. He used to keep his earnings in Binance account. I don’t know why he choose to keep it there as I don’t think keeping more asset in any exchanger is not a wise idea. His hard work and dedication helped him earn a good amount of money (approximately 3 million dollars). Many people knew about his earnings and where he stores that money.

One day some police arrested him for suspecting a person related to money laundering and took him to the police station. For that reason, they took his smartphone and ordered him to unlock everything. He did everything as police officers instructed him. After unlocking, police officers took his mobile and kept him in the prison for 7/8 hours and released him again after doing some paperwork. They returned his smartphone also. But after one day the freelancer started to see the notification of withdrawal from Binance account.

He saw that his life earning assets were transferred to another account and he was helpless to do anything. He didn’t know how it happened but after thinking a lot he guessed that the police officers might have taken information related to his Binance account and they did the task as he didn’t give his smartphone to anyone in that time. When he went to police officers, they directly refused it and said that they don’t know anything related to it. The freelancer has done a case file against those police officers but there was not specific proof of it.

There was no solution of it and he lost his assets for forever and I don’t know what happened with him after that.

It is very possible that the police were the ones behind the withdrawal since they were the only ones that requested for his phone and saw his binance account. I am very sure he opened his accounts but he wasn't able to see what they were doing (checking) on his phone.

It is difficult to fight police officers. Very difficult.

It was careless of him to allow people know how much he has and where he stores them.

I feel really sad for him though.
