In today's world, the youth have a misguided sense of sincere happiness due to the image which is constantly being portrayed on the internet. Social media is making it look as if the world's happiness only comes from material things. Thus, we are witnessing a sad generation hiding behind beautiful pictures.
We, therefore, need to take a step back and carefully assess ourselves to first discover what is important to us. That way we will be grateful and appreciative of the small blessings we are surrounded by.
There are many ways we can attain genuine happiness or have a feel of it. This feeling of contentment and satisfaction is not something you can just go and buy at the store. Rather, it is something that only comes from within.
Helping Others
Our ability to impact change in the lives of others is something that can never be understated. One way or the other, we have all experienced some difficult moment in our lives when things were not going according to our plans or even to a point where we felt like giving up and losing hope entirely. Because of this, we gain a sense of satisfaction and contentment when we can alleviate someone's plight in the smallest way possible. It certainly pays off to lend a helping hand to others whenever the need arises.Gratitude
Many things in life should be viewed as blessings including the little things. This is because it is not everyone is as fortunate as most of us who wakes up with good health and sound mind to be able to carry out our activities without any interruptions. We all indeed have our problems and challenges we are facing. However, we should focus on the positive aspects of life. That is the only way we can be truly happy with our present state.
Time With Loved Ones
No man is an island. Thus, everyone wants to have a sense of belongingness wherever they may find themselves. This is natural and just human nature. And nothing makes us feel this way than our loved ones. This comprises our friends and family. It is therefore important that we always check up on the people we care about and spend some quality time with them. Our families also give us a sense of security as we know the people we can lean on at all times which contributes to our overall happiness as well.
Living In The Moment
The plans that we have for ourselves should not refrain us from living within the moment and our means. Today's youth are so worried about the future and keep dwelling over some past mistakes without appreciating and making do with what we have now. That should not be the case at all. The world is huge and beautiful with many features for us to explore. Why must we, therefore, worry about things that are not within our control? Besides, we can only try our best. But the outcome is not up to us.
Achieving Goals
The feeling of fulfilling a certain purpose/goal resonates within the minds of everyone. Although these goals may differ from person to person, it is still something that is engrained within our beings. We want to accomplish something of value to attain our self-actualization stage. That is the only way we would be satisfied. We must therefore set an achievable goal that can be attained, which in turn boosts our self-esteem and overall happiness.
Positive Mindset
Our mentality is the driving force of all our subsequent actions that we may portray. If you carry around a mindset full of negativity, it will surely reflect in your actions and you may only view the world as an evil one which should not be the case. Rather, start your day with a positive mindset and it will surely yield better productivity which in turn reaps contentment. The spirit of positivity goes a long way to help us build a meaningful and fulfilling life.
Genuine happiness comes in many shapes and forms. But ultimately, it is up to the individual to take the first step in reaching for it. There is no point dwelling on the wrecks of the past, rather focus your actions on positivity and love and you will surely attain genuine happiness.
