The Joy In Simple Dressing

Greetings everyone,

Gone are the days when clothes were just meant to be a piece of fabric or artifact used to cover one's body and shield it from nakedness. Back in the day, we had no sense of fashion so it used to be something we didn't think much of. Who had time to design a piece of animal hide or leaves into something fashionable?

However, these days dressing is not just a mere thing anymore. So much care and consideration is taken into account when preparing what to wear before leaving for work. This is because, for many people, dressing is seen as a sense of personal identity. So that wherever you may find yourself, people can look at you and tell you exactly what occasion you are attending.

Thus, for me, I like to dress for the occasion. I don't give as much thought to it as some people do. Simply put, I am a "grab and wear" type of person. Because I know myself, I tend to take a stroll through town whenever I am ready so that I can get some attire for some unforeseen occasion.

I always hate it when I get notified about an unannounced wedding or gathering and I am pondering about what to wear. To avoid this, whenever I have some money saved up, I would call my friend who is a tailor to get me a befitting African wear (for formal occasions). I am not really a suit person so I lean on African wear for formal gatherings.

But when classical formality calls for it, you will find me in a long-sleeved shirt with befitting trousers and shoes. I think it is important to maintain those standards during official occasions as well.

Otherwise, in most cases where I go out with my friends, you are likely to find me in a jersey of some sort with jeans on. That is usually what I go with these days as it is decent-looking and not too conspicuous as well.

All in all, I think it is important to dress for the occasion since it can usually speak volumes about your character. It is also the first impression you are going to make when someone sees you even before they get to know you.

But I think simplicity is the way to go. That way, people would focus a lot more on you as a person than the way you dress.

Thank you for your attention.

Dressing appropriately for every occasion is a must, there's a dress code that needs to be respected but i don't think you have to over complicate it. As you say, simplicity is good.

Exactly. We must adhere to event etiquettes
