Hello Hive Family. I hope you are doing great. This Post is my entry to Weekly featured content in the #Hivelearners community.
The topic is to write about Family time, no phones . During family time, phone usage should be minimized? Can this action increase bonding within the family? What difficulties are you encountering in implementing this at home?
During family time, phone usage should be minimized:
In my opinion, this topic seems to be on our parents' minds these days. Nowadays, technology and social apps have kept us so busy that we hardly have time for our families. Even when we're physically present with them, our minds are often preoccupied with social apps and phones.
A few days ago, I went out to dinner with my family. Just as our food was being served, I received an important call. I ended up being on the call for about 5 minutes. While I was on the call, my family waited for me to finish before starting to eat. As soon as the call ended, we began eating, but my mind was still preoccupied with the conversation I had just had. During this time, my mom tried talking to me, but I wasn't fully present.
After a while, I asked her what she had said a few moments ago. She replied that she had asked me to pass the salad plate, which I hadn't noticed at that moment.
My late father used to get very irritated by this. Back in school days, when we all sat together to eat and I was busy typing messages on my phone, he would take my phone away from me. In my opinion, that was a better solution. But nowadays, young people perceive it as going against their social freedom.

Sitting down with family to eat a meal together is a blessing:
Dear friends, this is medically and scientifically proven. When you are eating and your attention is diverted mentally elsewhere, it can lead to issues. Not chewing food properly before swallowing can lead to stomach issues or even problems like food poisoning. Continuous use of mobile phones can also result in pain in your head, eyes, and muscles.
In today's fast-paced life where everyone is busy with their own commitments, be it studies, jobs, or household works, the moments when everyone gathers together are truly precious. We should cherish these moments as a blessing.
Sitting together, we can inquire about each other's days and share any issues or upcoming problems, seeking solutions collectively. We can also stay informed about events happening in society.
It's a wonderful tradition passed down from our forefathers. Perhaps there's a blessing in it. That time wasn't dominated by technology but was simple and peaceful. People had time to sit together. They used to gather under a tree during the day, share meals, and engage in cheerful conversations. That's why those days were golden, and the people of that time are still physically fit today.
Difficulties are encountering in implementing this at home:
This is an essential practice that needs to be communicated to today's generation. They need to understand that they shouldn't be engrossed in their phones while eating with family, but they shouldn't be too strict about it either. Rather, they should be encouraged to minimize phone usage during that time. If there's an urgent call from the office, they might choose not to attend it immediately but instead call back after 5 minutes. Because in my opinion, it doesn't take more than 5 minutes to have a meal. And this reality is likely understood by your colleagues and friends as well.
At the End:
It's important to reduce mobile phone usage while having meals with family. It's a significant and meaningful message that the current generation should grasp. I think this message should be shared widely . Thank you so much for reading!
