Earlier today, I was chatting in the neoxian city discord server and I happened to casually ask one of the citizens who said he was going to have lunch to cook for two. But then he said it was his mother that was doing the cooking and it was majorly vegetables. I had to ask if he was a vegetarian and he confirmed that he was and it was because of his family religion which happens to be Hinduism. According to him as an Hindus he doesn't eat meat or anything with blood. We couldn't continue the conversation because he had to go. Few hours later I discovered that the prompt for hive learners is centered around vegetarians. If I had known I would probably have asked for a private section to understand more about his religion and eating habits.
I've always wondered how people live without meat and fish and everything I enjoy in food. Truth be told as fascinated as I am about it, I can never want to be a vegetarian. Although I wish to one day stop eating red meat, that would mean I would be more reliant on fresh sea foods. I think this is the best I can do to stay healthy. Anything more than this would simply be punishment for me. Punishment because I love pepper a lot, I love those meats and chicken source, I love the sight of plenty of meat and fish in my food. Buying food without meat and fish is usually like I'm suffering talkless living on vegetables alone. When I was younger I even used to think vegetarians would eat grass like animals until I grew up and saw it wasn't the same.
One time I was opportune to listen to a vegetarian talk, according to him his wife eats more than him. His wife eats four meals a week. For him in the last 7 months he had eaten three times which still sounds absurd to me. I value the fact that their diet makes it easier to fast and stay without the enthusiasm of food. But then again, I don't think it's for me. Yeah I know there's more to life than what meets the eyes, but that more is for someone else that is definitely not me. I love food a lot, and I also love trying new cuisines. One day I will try out vegetables just to know what it tastes like. But I'm certain I won't switch from my diet.
Already I find it difficult to go a week without eating swallow which is something I was brought up with. If I do not eat swallow in a week I start feeling like fainting and might even fall sick until I eat a good swallow with soup (preferably Egusi or vegetable soup with plenty of meat and fish and chicken if possible). Yes that's how I love to eat and I don't think I would be dropping it for veggies. If I should finally drop the meat it would be to start eating just fish, but that's where I would stop. The thought of surviving without meat is even scary 😂.
